Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith Featherstone
Hi Meredith, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began over 14 years ago when I started my career as an esthetician, driven by a passion for skincare. Taking care of my own skin brought me a sense of fulfillment, and it wasn’t long before I realized that helping others experience the same was incredibly rewarding. The gratitude I received from my clients confirmed I was making a meaningful impact, and that deepened my sense of purpose.
But over time, I began to feel disconnected from the original joy I found in this work. The environment I was in, where I was moving from one client to the next with little time to recharge in between, no longer supported the work I wanted to do. I started adjusting my schedule to better suit my needs, but it eventually became clear that the environment itself wasn’t the right fit for me. I realized I needed a space where I could truly thrive—where I could focus on providing the care I was passionate about, in an environment that valued both clients and myself. I found myself feeling drained by staying in a place that no longer aligned with my values and I knew something needed to change.
I envisioned a space where beauty, wellness, and healing could come together in a way that felt true to me. After searching for different studio spaces, I found the right location and knew it was time to take a leap. At the end of 2023, despite the fear of the unknown, I left my job behind. That’s when Enlightened Esthetics was born.
Starting my own business allowed me to redefine my approach to self-care. I realized that to truly serve others, I needed to prioritize my own well-being. Now, I live with more intention—slowing down, resetting when needed, and putting self-care first. Running Enlightened Esthetics is not just about offering beauty services; it’s about creating a healing space for both my clients and myself. By caring for myself, I’ve found more energy and passion to share with others. Enlightened Esthetics embodies the belief that true healing begins with honoring our own needs.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely had its challenges. I’ve had to navigate not only practical obstacles but also mental and emotional blocks that were holding me back. At first, stepping into something new and leaving my job—which no longer aligned with who I was—brought up a lot of emotions. It was a process of confronting the fears and doubts that had been ingrained in me and believing that I needed to work hard for someone else and play small, rather than chasing my dreams and sharing my gifts. I had to deeply feel those emotions and confront what had been limiting me in order to break free.
In the midst of everything seemingly falling apart around me, I realized it was all happening for my greater good. It felt as though the universe was guiding me toward my purpose, urging me to step into a role where I could help others in a way that was uniquely aligned with who I am and what I’m meant to offer. This realization gave me the clarity and strength I needed to move forward.
As I continued working through my internal blocks, I also had to take practical steps to bring my vision to life. Finding the location for my studio, choosing the right software to manage my business—these were just a few of the crucial steps needed to get everything off the ground. Even though the process presented challenges, each decision brought me closer to creating a space where I could offer my clients the best possible experience. It became clear that both the internal and external work were necessary to build something truly meaningful.
Accepting the unknown and embracing uncertainty became a crucial part of my journey. I’ve learned that control is an illusion—while I can’t control everything, I can control my actions and my response to each situation. Letting go of the need to manage every outcome has allowed me to navigate challenges with more clarity and less stress.
While obstacles still arise, I’ve found that by staying focused on my purpose and remaining adaptable, things have become much more manageable. I’ve also learned the importance of being patient with myself, understanding that growth takes time and that it’s okay to move at my own pace. Trusting the process and allowing myself grace along the way has made all the difference. I’ve learned to go with the flow, trusting that each step I take brings me closer to where I need to be. It’s been a process of growth, and I’m excited to see how everything continues to unfold as I stay aligned with my mission.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Enlightened Esthetics is a reflection of my vision, where skincare meets healing and well-being. My approach combines the art of skincare with various healing modalities, all designed to help my clients age gracefully by enhancing their natural beauty, inside and out. Each facial treatment is personalized to meet unique needs, infused with calming energy, and crafted to leave them feeling rejuvenated, balanced, and restored.
I’m most proud of the intentionality behind the business I’ve created. Everything I offer is thoughtfully designed with purpose—to create a space where clients feel cared for, empowered, and deeply nurtured. The environment I’ve cultivated helps soothe the nervous system and promote deep relaxation, enhanced by treatments such as facial and upper body massage, gua sha, crystals, and sound bowls.
What sets me apart is the integration of crystal healing sessions, which can be incorporated into my facials. These sessions help clients reconnect with the peace they hold within, using crystals to clear energetic blockages and align them with the frequencies of unconditional love. Additionally, I may offer guidance on their healing journey and pull an oracle card to encourage deeper reflection.
At the heart of my business is a deep commitment to self-care. I’ve discovered firsthand how essential it is, and I want to help others experience the same. By helping others in this way, I can express myself authentically—sharing my gifts and stepping more fully into my purpose. In doing so, I can help create beauty in the world, while nurturing peace and harmony, and that all starts by taking care of ourselves.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Atlanta and the metro area is the diversity. Finding communities that resonate with me has been invaluable in staying connected and feeling a sense of belonging. There’s also an abundance of places to eat and endless options for entertainment, which makes the city exciting to explore.
What I like least would definitely be the traffic. I try to plan my outings around times when it’s less hectic, but when the express lanes are open, it definitely helps alleviate some of the stress of getting around.
That said, what’s truly exciting to me is seeing new places, businesses, and events pop up throughout the city. It’s inspiring to witness how far the Atlanta area has come over the years, and I’m happy to be a part of the ongoing growth and development that’s creating an even better community for everyone.
