Meet Meridy King of Meridy W. King Interiors in North Buckhead and Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meridy King.

Meridy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Graduated college with a degree in public relations only to realize that Interior Design was my main interest. Earned a 3-year Interior Design degree thru Georgia State and began as a memo girl at Travis & Co. at ADAC and moved along from there.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Although I had only a handful of jobs under my belt…I got lucky. I struck up a conversation with a lady in a Destin, Florida fitting room and somehow ended up with an incredible job decorating a fabulous house on the Island of Mustique.

I had one shot, due to the proximity of the house, it all had to be right! I asked every dumb question of design to every designer that I could catch! It was a struggle, but the house was incredible and paved my path!

Meridy W. King Interiors – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I have a small, mainly residential design firm (an occasional restaurant & office). I like it that it is small! I would have to say that we specialize in ground up residential jobs. We prefer to be part of the meetings with the architect & stay with our clients thru the entire process. This typically lasts about a year to a year and a half (certainly, there are exceptions).

I am proud to say that I can flat make decisions! I am also proud to say that most of my clients are the most appreciative, lovely people that I know! OK, exceptions in both categories here too 🙂

What sets us apart from others? We are just who we are, that sets us apart! Although each home that we appoint/design is vastly different, just look at “My Works” on Pinterest or my website meridyking.com. We are set apart by the fact that we try to choose exactly what our clients would have chosen if they could have done it themselves!

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” – Maya Angelou

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moments are when my two teenage girls actually like something! Ha! Actually, there are several houses out there that I am extremely proud of! The most recent proud moment is the renovation that my husband (builder Woody King) & I just completed. It was a 1932 house that had never been touched! The house is amazing now! Very proud!!!!!!
