Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Farrow.
New Transition to Success Inc. is a Mobile Resource founded by Mia Farrow. Ms. Farrow stopped working in June 2006 from Any Lab Test and Red Cross to homeschool her children and to complete college. She graduated from Clayton State University in Jonesboro, Georgia in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and later received her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Thomas University, located in Thomasville, Georgia in 2015.
When Ms. Farrow worked at Any Lab Test and Red Cross in 2004-2006, she developed a greater passion to help others outside of her job description. Ms. Farrow would always make it her duty to provide the patients with any resources that they requested such as help with housing, food, financial assistance, and education.
In 2007, when Ms. Farrow becomes a house maker, she decided to volunteer with her family at various organizations such as Must Ministries, Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, Open Hands, Meals on Wheels, Hands on Atlanta, Hope Warehouse, Jesus Set the Captive Free, Atlanta Food Bank, Cobb County 4-H Club, Fulton County 4-H Club, and other organizations. Volunteering and interning at various organizations have made her utilize the skills that she previously had, as well as develop new skills. Lastly, Ms. Farrow is a Board Member with Marietta Housing Authority Programming Coordinating Committee (PCC) since 2017, Member of Connections Academy Home school Program since 2016, and Certified Volunteer with Cobb County/Fulton County 4H-Club since 2014.
New Transition to Success was established with the intent for her to globally help individuals that are in need. She is proud to say that even though she can’t help the world, she is determined to help as many people reach their goals to success no matter how challenging that can be.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We are a new nonprofit organization so of course, we have had some struggles. Our main struggles include a lack of funds and “true” partnership. It’s difficult to help people without having enough funds. Many grants that we would like to apply for require a nonprofit to be established for at least two years and unfortunately, we have only been established since April 2018. Another struggle that we have had in the past is the lack of “true” partnership. Some organizations in the past have partnered with our organization, but have not kept a commitment to help and serve the community based on our agreement. Honestly, I have learned from these two main struggles and neither has defeated myself or the workers in my organization. We trust in God and believe that he will provide us with the necessities that we need, so we can keep proving the community with resources that they need.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the New Transition to Success story. Tell us more about it.
New Transition to Success mission is dedicated to guiding and providing the youth and adults with the assistance and resources that they need through programs and educational and career services to successfully achieve their goals in their life so that they can ultimately sustain permanent independence. I am the Director. I am known to do everything that my mission stands for. I am the liaison between the community and organizations. In other words, I bring various organizations that can provide “free” resources to the community together. I do that by coordinating community events, such as Job Fairs, Health Fairs, and other community events. In addition, we partner with various organizations such as elementary, middle and high schools, childcare centers, recreation centers, churches, and other organizations. As an organization, I am most proud of being blessed to have the ability to be resourceful and be able to provide free resources and support to the community and organizations, with the hopes of helping families become more successful in their life. What sets us apart from others is that my organization is always searching for new resources or organizations that can provide free services to the community. We don’t limit our partnership. We partner with everyone that can support the community no matter who they are.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe that God has chosen me to bless others with the resources and knowledge that I have been given. I have been blessed to utilize resources in my life that God has given me and my family and in return, I like to give back and bless others.
