Meet Mia Hann of Whole Life Healing Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Hann.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As CEO/Founder and domestic violence survivor, I have joined hands with leaders, shelters, churches, and other survivors to FIGHT against domestic violence.

I didn’t find my voice or purpose in life until I found myself in the domestic violence shelter. I always wondered how I went to school three times for three different majors and ended up in HR which I have no degree for. God had a plan for my life that had nothing to do with me and everything to do with the assignment for my life. Each degree assisted in preparing me for founding the Whole Life Healing Center (WLHC). WLHC is unique because we were formed while I was in the domestic violence shelter with the help of Promise Place.

Initially, I thought my career as an HR professional was my purpose in life but… I was wrong! My HR career was preparing me for my true purpose which is assisting in transitioning survivors out of the shelter and into their new careers and homes.

My board and I are working diligently to hear the sometimes silent cries of survivors, we are encouraging them to find their voice and speak out loud. We are working to provide resources to assist in their transitions by offering job placement, resume writing assistance, housing assistance, furniture assistance, VOWA visa assistance and blessing buckets. We are also working hard to build a support system virtually for survivors in the cities and states that we do not physically operate in. We offer virtual group sessions, virtual workouts, and virtual activities.

My name is Mia and…. I AM MORE THAN A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVOR

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This faith walk have not been easy! Transitioning out of the shelter with five small children while starting a nonprofit was one of the most difficult yet rewarding opportunities I’ve had yet. I remember helping others with housing before I was blessed with my home, donating vehicles before I had my truck but I remained faithful because I knew this was my purpose.

I am in the second year of business and have finally obtained my 501c3 (which was a struggle on an elevated level). I am now seeking donors and grants to help fund the programs to assist the domestic violence survivors with transitioning out of shelters in Georgia and New York.

For those out there with a purpose filled vision be encouraged, stay the course even through difficult times, continue to plant the seeds your harvest WILL come.

As you know, we’re big fans of Whole Life Healing Center. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Whole Life Healing Center stand to combat homelessness, unemployment, food insecurities, and domestic violence. We provide a variety of resources, programs, and services to enhance the lives and communities of teenage mothers and victims of domestic violence.

We are working diligently in the States of Georgia and New York to provide services to assist domestic violence survivors, teen mothers, college students and survivors of all sorts.

We are excited to say that we are an organization that is proactively working to assist in positively impacting the lives of survivors, the community and the future leaders of tomorrow. We have a Gift A Student Program that works with colleges/Universities to combat food/ supply and toiletry insecurities on campuses. We started this program four months ago and have assisted with feeding and providing necessities to 325 students.

We are an organization with a true understanding of the services we provide and how impactful they are. Having a CEO/Founder that started the organization as I transitioned out of the shelter with my children allows the organization to have true insight and perspective on the assistance that is needed to be most effective.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Christmas at grandma Madeline House was always FUN. The moment I walked in the front hallway before entering her house all I can remember is the smell of freshly picked apples. Once you entered into the house it was family everywhere, there were so many people I couldn’t even find a seat. The food was the best part of the day, it was even better than the gifts. My grandmother’s house was the safe haven for so many people, everybody lived with her at some point. Her love for family and people in general inspires me, she is truly missed.
