Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Anthony.
Michael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was in the music industry for about 15 years as a writer and artist. I had deals with Atlantic/EMI/Slip-n-Slide records. I’ve always had a fantasy of being an actor, but it never felt like a reality considering the markets that I was in and how deeply rooted i was in the music industry. My introduction came while I was in a soundtrack session for a project being filmed in Miami. The director of the film was sitting in with me and in the middle of us picking out the records for the film he said that he saw me as one of the characters in the film. He invited me to the audition and I had no idea what I was doing but the production felt I did enough and booked me for the role. We filmed for three months, and I instantly fell in love with acting.
Years later, I relocated to Atlanta to link with a major music production but I couldn’t shake that feeling that acting gave me so I decided to let the music go and become a full-time actor. After three months of training, I got signed to the largest Agency in Atlanta and booked 13 major film/television credits in a span of 15 months (on networks like HBO, NBC, CBS, NETFLIX, BET, TVONE, WARNER BROTHERS, OWN, CW). I say to everyone out there, life is too short to be afraid to do what you really want to do, no matter how old you are, don’t get fired by your dreams working for someone else’s.
Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think there is a such thing as a smooth road to success. I’ve been homeless twice, struggled with depression, lost my mother, had a vehicle repossessed, my heartbroken and plenty other curve balls life has throw at me on my journey thus far. The bottom line is I’m here and my foundation is that much stronger because of it, so I wouldn’t change one thing about my story.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
My company is called Red Oracle films. I’m an ACTOR, recently getting into producing, writing and directing. We shoot reels, short films and working on shooting full features.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’ve lived all over the world from England, NY, Vegas, Florida, Ohio, Mississippi. I must say there is NO place on this earth like ATLANTA, GA. I love everything about it except for the traffic, but hey, I understand it’s going to be busy because everybody wants to live in Wakanda Georgia, so I don’t complain. I’m just grateful that ATL has opened its arms wide open to me.
