Meet Michael Augustine III of Decatur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Augustine III.

Hi Michael, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Michael Augustine of Rebel Conscious Films is a writer, director and cinematographer from New Orleans, Louisiana based in Decatur, Georgia. Relocating to Atlanta during the Hurricane, he found a second home in Marietta, graduating from Joseph Wheeler High School before returning to home to multi-major at Louisiana State University.

Michael has worked on countless visual projects from music videos to feature films, focused heavily on narrative storytelling with a host of screenplays focused on exploring the depths of the human experience and the spiritual heights of creation through paradigm shifting and status quo challenging works.

He is known for his work on “She was Famous” (2016), “If I am to Continue” (2021), “The Sun & The Moon in the Sky” (2018) at the same time, “My Prayers are Precious to God” (2022), and the episodic series “Beyond Hands”—set to release late 2026.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Through hard work, diligence, and dedication, Michael has been able to craft a lane independent from major industry support by fostering community, creativity, and collaboration. In the spirit of autonomy, he has been able to establish a career and track record of quality work that has built an eager and committed following that continues to grow in anticipation of his next projects.

Although Michael is in consideration for several noteworthy labs, fellowships, and grants—he continues to walk a path of independence that has built much momentum around his work and his company, Rebel Conscious Films. His profile and company continue to grow into more notoriety both nationally and globally and with the right partnerships and consistent creative output, there is sure to be a host of critical acclaim and box office success coming in the near future.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Michael’s focus is in telling stories and creating visual works that challenge the imbalances and iniquities of our modern society. He has committed to a career in the craft based around morality, spirituality, and human transcendence beyond the imposed and perceived limitations that people experience daily.

As a screenwriter, his works expose the underbelly of society that most consider conspiracy while exploring the paths of expanded human consciousness and awareness. Michael is quoted saying that he, “knows that cinema has the power to change the world to its highest potential” and he has vowed to create the films that will make it come to pass.

His focus in the craft of visual storytelling and true collaboration has opened the door for a promising future in the film industry. Most known for his self-produced feature film, “My Prayers are Precious to God”—he has set himself apart as a student of the artform and a true artist with something special to say to audiences around the world.

Any big plans?
Michael is currently completing a self-produced 9-episode series titled, Beyond Hands, that is set to release in late 2026. He is also in talks with several notable producers in regard to a slate of films that are in early stages of packaging and financing with exciting potentials in the marketplace. He is also in consideration for several major labs and fellowships, including Sundance, Stowe, and Tribecca, amongst others.

With a collection of 200+ projects in various stages of development and countless completed and packaging works, he is expected to make a big splash in the global film industry in the coming years.
