Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Cross.
Michael, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started off music at the age of around eight, I have karaoke covers of me doing chief keef songs, and throughout my years, I started messing more with more music. It all really began 10th grade of high school year. I was hiding the fact that I made music, afraid of what people would think and a lot of self-doubts. By coincidence, one of my closest friends Andy happen to find my music and managed to talk some sense into me to be more open about it, and with that, I slowly gained confidence throughout my high school years left to be serious and chase what I love. It was also very neat people at school would call me by my artist name and I wouldn’t know them because I was fairly quiet in highschool. By the end of my senior year, I had 500,000 streams across Spotify, apple music, etc. As to date I’m clocking in at 2.6 million streams.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had multiple times where I would wanna give up or I’d lose motivation, but I feel like this comes with being an artist, The struggle of highs and lows, and also the struggle of finding your own sound as well as doing your own thing being original.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m most known for my hit song ill keep you safe, which is at currently at 2.3 million and it pulls in +100,000 plus streams itself a month. This song opened boundaries for me; it was original and different. How often do you hear of an artist from Atlanta making lofi type music, I then found my sound which sets me apart from the majority of an artist in my city
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood would have to be when I went to Florida and saw the beach at night. It fascinated me that even in the dark, the beach was still so beautiful.
