Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Dorio.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Michael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Quiet Hounds was born on a trip back from Austin TX. We had a lot of ideas around starting something fresh and without any constraints or rules traditionally upheld by the music industry. That same industry that had failed us so many times before and yet continued to dictate our path. We decided to throw all of that out the window and forge a new version of what it meant to be in a band. A new version of art and music that brought together our city and our community.
Quiet Hounds’ first-ever performance in 2011 organically drew an underground scene of 400 attendees to the region. Dressed in latent leather dog masks, they delivered a handmade late 1800s/early 1900s inspired immersive fan experience, telling stories of The South’s history (Civil War, historic Georgia stories) through bonding music with Atlanta’s food scene.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing in art is ever smooth. And the music business is one of the bumpiest there is.
But that was the beauty of the Quiet Hounds. We didn’t have to conform to the pitfalls and roadblocks put in place by this industry anymore. We could just go around them.
When things got bumpy, we took a new road. When someone said, “That won’t work” we just said, sure it will. We can do anything we want as long as it is true and real and brings happiness and excitement to the people watching and listening
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Quiet Hounds story. Tell us more about the business.
Quiet Hounds are a musical collective, a band, a group of producers, idea makers, and champions of Atlanta, GA. We curate experienced based concerts and dinners that bring the best of our city together in art, music, film, food, and culture. We write, record, produce songs for our fans. We perform live in interesting locations and we want to show the rest of the nation and world how amazing our community of artists and thinkers is.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck always plays a part in life. And music is no exception. But we look at luck as a bonus to hard work and dedication. Luck doesn’t define us. It doesn’t pave our way. But it sometimes brings new relationships and opportunities to us that we would have never found otherwise.

Love, love, love these guys. Their music inspired my summer and their shows are events I look forward to – each and every time. The experiences they cultivate help bring the community together in positive ways. And they give all their music away for free.
