Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Stewart.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Michael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My name is Michael Stewart and my background is in videography and editing. My husband Stephen Moleski, is a celebrity makeup artist with over 20 years of experience. A little over a year ago, we decided to combine our talents and create Stewdiospace. One of the driving forces that prompted us to start our own business was that Stephen was getting frustrated with other photographers that would filter or over-photoshop images so much that his makeup was not being translated in a way that reflected his aesthetic.
He asked me one day would I be interested in doing photography? I’m all about trying new things and really enjoy all aspects of production especially lighting, so it just seemed like the right fit. We bought a digital camera and the rest is history. Over the course of the year, we have shot a variety of models, numerous beauty campaigns, flew to Canada for a huge corporate brand launch and had our work published in magazines.
We are so excited about being able to bring our vision of beauty to the Atlanta market!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We understand the concept of “you get what you pay for” but getting other people to realize what that actually means has been a shocker. As we all know, it’s a small world and word gets around because people like to talk. We’ve had people pretty much tell us “They took your picture from IG or your website and asked another photographer or makeup artist to recreate the same look but do it cheaper.” We value quality and take pride in our work because it’s what we love doing.
