Today we’d like to introduce you to Michaela Palovick and Heidi Harris.
Michaela and Heidi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As friends and colleagues, Heidi and I are constantly talking business and bouncing ideas off of each other! This idea just happened to emerge over cocktails when Heidi was wedding planning and couldn’t source the pieces she wanted to achieve her desired wedding style here locally in Atlanta. We thought together… well, let’s fill that gap in the market then, and thus MCM Rent Shop was born.
Has it been a smooth road?
So far, smooth! We have really made a conscious effort to start slow and grow slow which has allowed us the time and opportunity to learn along the way. One thing we have learned the hard way is don’t mess with mother nature! Most of our pieces are one-of-a-kind and cannot be replaced. We recently lost 2 beautiful equipale chairs that were riding in the back of an open truck to rain. Let’s just say, we don’t use open bed trucks to deliver anymore!

At MCM Rent Shop, we specialize in sourcing one-of-a-kind mid-century modern and vintage furniture, textiles and accessories for your rental needs. Our goal is to offer pieces that no one else in Atlanta are offering for rent and filling in this aesthetic in our current event rental market.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is home so, of course, we had no doubts when we started our rent shop here! We both love this city and are in awe of the network of makers, doers, creators and entrepreneurs that are so very supportive of one another.
It does help that we both have been amerced in Atlanta’s creative community for quite some time – Heidi has her own photography business (@heidiface), while Michaela founded her own social media marketing agency (@hellomediaco) – and this has been an advantage for sure. But, you can do anything as long as you put yourself out there and do the work!
