Today we’d like to introduce you to Mi’Chel Bombshell.
Mi’Chel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been a hustler as both of my parents were entrepreneurs. Originally I was modeling, hosting and doing videos when I first moved to Atlanta back in 2011. I had my own modeling company in Kansas City, MO where I’m originally from, called ‘Midwest Charmz’ with my sister @Fit.Ree.Fitness on Instagram. I also had an online boutique, “Love Retail Therapy’ with both of my sisters and my cousin, inspired by my dad, before it was the “popular” thing to do. Everything was going great but life happens.
I’ve always had a passion for makeup, however I let fear hold me back from my passion because in the beginning I wasn’t the best at it, but I learned that I would have to start somewhere and I worked my butt off to get where I am today.
Eventually I came to a turning point in my life, and felt I had nowhere else to go but up, I moved back home, went to school and received my Esthetic license and lash certification, amongst other certifications. I took two years away from Atlanta, in order to save money and get me through school. I worked at a very well-paying corporate job and could have stayed there and moved up the ladder. However, I decided it was my time to chase my dreams without hesitation.
I left Kansas City and moved back to Atlanta in March of 2019. I still had all the same bills plus more, and had just bought me a new car but instead of doubting myself I put my complete faith in God that this was the path for me and if it wasn’t, I trusted that he would protect me and guide me in the right direction.
I moved into my very first suite the very next day after I officially moved back to Georgia with NO clients at all. I would just go to work to record myself doing my own makeup for content online, to hopefully bring in clients. To afford the suite and my other bills, I was also doing makeup at a makeup kiosk inside of Cumberland mall, as well as being the makeup artist at Allure strip club. Basically, I was HUSTLING in order to bring my dreams to fruition. I later moved out of my first suite, because the environment was terrible and unfortunately had to go through renting from two other unprofessional business owners in Atlanta until I landed where I am today, at Encore Salon Suites. The environment is clean and professional, which is what I strive to provide to my clients at all times and will remain at this location until I open my own salon in the very near future.
I now do production makeup for many of your favorite artists’ videos, providing services for the models and sometimes the artists, I have celebrity clients, I provide luxury mobile services, and am available 24hrs a day by appointment.
I started my own cosmetic line during quarantine, “Traces By Bombshell,” selling luxury lipgloss and ‘Mynx By Bombshell’ selling luxury mink lashes. In addition to my line, I created my nieces own lip gloss line, ‘Bai-by Lipps,’ which is a play on her name, Bailey, for Bai-by girls young and old. All products can be found on my website WWW.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road lol nothing worth having ever is honestly. I have been homeless, experienced tragedy, death from people very close to me up until just a few months ago. Every step of this journey has been hard for me. Even going back home to go to school to start over. The teachers were racist at the predominantly white school I went to, Entourage Institute of Beauty & Esthetics in Lenexa, KS. I cried almost everyday from what I experienced but I could NOT give up.
I’ve experienced everything from abusive relationships and trying to still get up and push through while dealing with the normal daily struggles. Through all of my trials, being homeless, being in a state of temporary financial hardship while trying to not allow myself to be mentally broke, moving state-to-state multiple times allowed me to become more grounded and spiritually connected with God, which made everything worth it in the end.
You can’t tell me my God isn’t good!! This is only the beginning of my journey and I want everyone to STAY TUNED for what’s to come from The Bombshell Experience. A little hint is to look out at your nearest mall for cosmetic vending machines by yours truly, The Bombshell Experience.
Please tell us about The Bombshell Experience.
I am the owner of ‘The Bombshell Experience,’ a licensed Esthetician providing beauty services such as Makeup, Waxing, and Lashes. I specialize in makeup and anything brows. Those two things are actually what attracted me to this field.
I also own a cosmetic line, ‘Traces By Bombshell,’ providing luxury handmade lip gloss, ‘Mynx By Bombshell,’ providing luxury mink strip lashes. Last but not least my niece also has her own lip gloss line and company that I started and she owns at the age of three, ‘Bai-by Lipps’ and @Baiby.Lipps on Instagram. Her products can also be purchased on my website.
I am known for my makeup skills amongst my other talents, such as modeling and being a full-out hustler, which I learned from my parents. I am most proud of my strength and tenacity to never give up but most specifically the accomplishments I have made in less than a year with my empire and it’s still only the beginning.
What sets me apart from every other Makeup Artist is that I am licensed in both Kansas and Georgia. I also create the formulas for my products, package them, and distribute them myself. My packaging alone will lure you in to want to know more about my products. I’ve put in a great deal of time and effort into my businesses and will continue to do so. Most people just want a quick turnaround, which of course, we all want profits as this is still a business but I’m also concerned about putting out GREAT QUALITY in order to keep customers coming back.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Spending the 4th of July with my entire family. It was dad’s favorite holiday and literally, all of my family and favorite cousins would be there. Even those who lived out of town would come just for his BIG BBQ’s. The last happy 4th of July I had was in 2012, a week before my dad was murdered. The family hasn’t been the same since, however this is why I push myself so hard. My dad was such a hard worker and would do anything for his family and he instilled that in his girls. I just want to make him and my mom proud. I WILL be a billionaire, mark my words.
