Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Burell.
Michelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started when God and I were having a conversation about my future and we came up with the name of the salon to call it Salon 3:16, to represent the verse John 3:16. From then the adventure began. We began searching for supplies and a place for the salon. I had a vision of what I wanted and that is how we found our location. Our salon is beach theme, very open and in a relax environment. People who come in are amazed how elegant it is. God blessed us with equipment to start up with on a small budget and we’ve been going strong for four years. We have independent hairdressers as well as commission. Our services included: Colour services, Highlights, Professional Men, Women, and children Haircuts, Perms, Hair Extensions, Special Occasion Hair, Keratin/Brazilian Treatments, and Facial Waxing. Our goal is to provide a place where if you want to praise Jesus you can and if you don’t well that is fine too. We are a safe haven we don’t judge, we on love people. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have had some learning curves through this adventure with God. He gives us trials and tribulations to help us overcome what we need to do. One of our setbacks was when we went through a period where we lost three to four hairdressers due to them wanting something different for their lives. During that time we had to ask God why did he give us this only to take away? His respond was if you do your part I will do mine. I felt like that baseball movie where he built a baseball field for all the old timers to come play that where in heaven. Well, I did my part I sent out letters to all the hairdressers in the area and God did his part too. Did it happen overnight no but it did happen in like three to four months. During that time God provided us with what we needed to hold on to the salon.
Please tell us about Salon 3:16.
We specialize in our colour services, Perms, special occasion hair, Hair extensions. In our colour services we do Ombres, balyage, vivids, face-framing highlights, and lowlights, sutle highlights or bold highlights that set you apart from others. We want you to be able to express yourself however you want too. Single process colour or corrected colour. To red hair or chocolate cherry hair with Carmel highlights. We do it your way because it’s your hair. We also do hair extensions. I have been working with extensions for seven years, now I am up on the latest extensions. We want you to feel beautiful that us our goal.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have a few but one off the top of my head is dressing my dog up for a talent contest with the other dogs in the neighborhood. I still look back and think that was silly but we did those kinds of things to keep us busy instead of playing some electronic device.
