Meet Michelle and Nate Jones of Blu Rose Art Bistro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Jones and Nate Jones.

Michelle and Nate, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As we celebrate our 1 year anniversary, we reflect on the amazing journey that we’ve had in Historic Downtown Douglasville. The Blu Rose Art Bistro was born out of a need to expand arts and culture to the Downtown area.

The goal was simple, great food, Live music, local wines and beers and the arts. Eat, Sip, Chat and Paint was our mantra and we are super excited about the success we’ve had in serving the local community.

Whether it’s hosting a kids birthday party, ladies night out, a gallery opening or live music, Blu Rose provides the perfect vibe for the entire family.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our greatest challenge was getting the word out and establishing our model. Since Blu Rose provides an unique experience, we had to really promote what we offered on various platforms to establish ourselves. While our location was in the heart of Downtown, our spot was not known because the majority of the restaurants and activities are located on the opposite side of downtown which meant we had to heavily promote what we offered.

Please tell us about Blu Rose Art Bistro.
Blu Rose Art Bistro offers something for the entire family. We are a neighborhood restaurant that includes a local art gallery, Sip and Paint Spot, a wine bar and a gift shop highlighting local vendors.

We are known for our fresh menu, local wines and beers and of course our events. Our customers enjoy the artsy vibes. live music and sip and paint classes.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would say we learned many lessons. The restaurant business comes with a high turnover rate especially when you are building the business. Everyone can’t and will not see your vision. When you find good people, cherish them.. believe me they are hard to find.

Clearly define what you do and do it well. We focused a lot of attention on our events to get people in the door but didn’t focus on the food as much which confused our customer base. Going into year one, we are establishing a marketing strategy focused on food especially breakfast and lunchtime promotions
