Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey S. Taylor.
Corey S., please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out as a model when I first moved to Atlanta 6 years ago; I had the idea of making fitness a part of my career but didn’t know where to start, I felt Atlanta would be a good starting point to build. It took about 6 months before I ran out of money, I faced a lot of struggle trying to build my brand, finding castings and booking gigs. I eventually started seeing clients in my apartment gym to make some money, it wasn’t until my clientele built and I met my now business partner that I started to take personal training serious and see myself as a business owner. We’ve spent the past 5 years becoming an international brand, working with professional athletes, Television, radio & sponsorships. Lot’s of hours invested, weekends sacrificed and lessons learned the hard way. It’s good to be on the other side of struggle, but it’s only the beginning.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I’ve learned a lot of life lessons the hard way; From walking to clients to sleeping at a park, to not sleeping at all, even battling depression. Life is real when you’re building something on your own, but the successful endure and that’s what I did. Every challenge in life is meant to teach you, and I took a lot of notes.
What’s your outlook for the industry over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I believe fitness will have transcended the culture. I believe health and wellness will be accepted culturally, nationwide, and more adults will be conscious eaters as well as advocates for an active lifestyle, for me personally, my motivational speaking will be the platform that I stand on; I will have made California a home by then, as well as finished 3 books that inspire the world to be happy and better. Health and wellness is simply the vehicle to a higher level of self-love.
Has there been a particular challenge that you’ve faced over the years?
My biggest challenge over the years I would say is pulling adults away from this western culture of consuming ( trends, culture & ideas ) only to recondition their mind. Getting someone to workout and eat clean is challenging, BUT to liberate their mind so that they not only look better but live and love more righteous, THAT’S the real work. If only everyone could visit a third world once in their lifetime, it would change their perspective.
What would you tell someone who is just starting out?
Trust your path, trust your circle, and trust your struggle. I became who I was by what I’ve been through.
Just jump, and the net will appear. All you need is a passion to stand out, your tribe will find you.
