Today we’d like to introduce you to Mi’esha Reynolds.
Mi’esha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For much of my life, I lived without knowing who my biological father was and I tried my best to bury it beneath my feelings. Every now and then I would muster up the energy to take the little information I knew about him and attempted to find him; but I always hit dead ends. I felt as though my life was great and I was flourishing without him so there was no need to really know who he was at 26. However, during pre-marital counseling, the issue tugged at me more and more and I could no longer act like not knowing him didn’t affect my life and the life I was about to start. I began being intentional about praying and making it a point to spend time with God to ask Him to allow me to find him before my wedding date (June 11, 2017). Within a week, I found him, messaged him on Facebook, spoke to him on the phone for the first time, took a paternity test, and got the results stating that he in fact was my biological father)! I had all the resources I needed to find him, I just had to be intentional, get committed to God in my own way, and really tell him what I wanted and why I needed to find him at this point in my life.
Ever since that pivotal moment in my life, I have been praying what I would call BOLD prayers and put some action behind those prayers if you want to see God bring them into fruition if it’s His will. These bold prayers are ones that scare you, you or others may think the prayer is unable to be reached, or the prayers require you to put more effort in your spending time with God than you have been doing.
Has it been a smooth road?
Anything in life worth having is worth working for. To say building my business has been easy would be a lie. I initially started Be Spiritually Bold as a blog where I shared pieces of my life with others in hopes to inspire them to strengthen their relationship with God and pray bold prayers. It wasn’t until I moved to Cairo, Egypt that I really began thinking about how I wanted to turn my blog into a business, a platform if you will. Being away from everything and everyone that I know, allowed me to really reflect and dig deep about what it is I wanted for myself, personally, mentally, emotionally, and entrepreneurially.
Being that I live on the other side of the world, the difference in time has been a huge struggle for me. I find that it’s difficult for me to engage as much as I would like virtually and in person due to the restrictions. I have also struggled with finding m voice place in the faith entrepreneur industry.
Of course, social media allows us to portray what we want others to see so it’s very hard to get distracted by what others are doing and how they may be generating sales, engagement on social media, and all of the above. In order to keep myself from feeling defeated, I had to take a step back and remember why I started Be Spiritually Bold, what makes me different, and how my message doesn’t have to reach everyone (because it’s not for everyone), but as long as it reaches one person everyday, I’m okay with that. God is pleased with the work I am doing and in the long run all of my hard work will pay off.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I help women utilize writing, drawing and painting to pave their way to God so that they can live life more boldly. Using these activities is a part of a technique I use frequently in my school counseling profession called Expressive Arts. Expressive Arts is the practice of using imagery, storytelling, dance, music, drama, poetry, writing, movement, dream work, and visual arts in an integrated way to foster human growth, development and healing.
I created Be Spiritually Bold for the woman who believes in God but may not be ready to fully commit and put Him at the center. You feel like you have already done great things in your life, so you don’t need to make any changes. But then you say to yourself, girl stop it, you know that you want more out of life and you need to get right with God because you know that He can take you places beyond your reach.
Being Spiritually Bold means trusting that with God, you are able to do anything you put your mind to—no matter how big, small, realistic, or unrealistic it may seem to others. You must have the confidence in yourself to know that it can be done as long as you have God at the center of it all.
I am most proud of the fact that I am able to integrate my profession as a Professional School Counselor with my business. I spent a lot of time and money obtaining advanced degrees to get where I am, so to be able to integrate that with helping women deal with unresolved issues and emotions as well as strengthen their faith in such an unconventional way is an absolute blessing!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like Atlanta is a great place for a business such as mine. Although I am not physically in the city at the moment, social media allows me to connect with other entrepreneurs in the area and I know that whenever I decide to return to my city, I will be able to network like crazy! That is actually one of the things I miss being so far from home. I would definitely recommend someone starting (or even stopping by) Atlanta, to build their business. There are so many different ways to connect and really build your brand/business.
