Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikka Orrick.
Mikka, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ten years ago my brother, Trent and I, decided to partner up and open a small Authentic Mexican restaurant. Since I grew up in Alpharetta and Trent grew up in Roswell, we thought that the quaint area of Canton Street was the perfect place. Our parents had a little cafe just a couple of doors down from the Roswell location. Being business owners their whole lives, and ending up in the restaurant industry, they encouraged us to do the same. Almost two years ago, we ventured to Alpharetta and opened our second location. Alpharetta is rapidly growing and we wanted to be a part of the growth, just as we were on Canton Street.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting out in a non-developed area was a little nerve wrecking. We weren’t sure what our business would do, or how busy we would be. Fortunately for us, being in communities that have amazing people, our customer base has gotten us to where we are today. The only struggle we have had is not having enough space for growth in Roswell. For our second location in Alpharetta, we made sure to have plenty of space so we wouldn’t have the same limitations.
Please tell us about Ceviche Taqueria.
We are an authentic Mexican restaurant. We are known for our fish tacos, our Elsa’s chicken enchiladas verde, and our handmade margaritas. We pride ourselves on serving fresh food, being community oriented, and giving back where it is needed.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Being a part of a family that were entrepreneurs. It allowed our family to travel and be together all the time.
