Meet Mikki Bey of Mableton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikki Bey

Hi Mikki, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Mikki Bey, and my mission is to propel women into their greatness, both personally and professionally. Over the past 15 years, I’ve built a successful business and brand in the beauty and coaching industries and now I’m sharing the secrets to my success with women eager to turn their dreams into deeds and their passion into profits.

My journey has been quite the adventure. From being a News Producer for CBS to a Celebrity Makeup Artist, entrepreneur, pharmaceutical salesperson, and now a marketer, my career has taken many twists and turns. As a licensed aesthetician, I showcased my business prowess on the national stage with my former Los Angeles-based salon, Mikki Bey Eyelash Extensions, featured on season 7 of “Shark Tank” on ABC.

I’m a proud native of Detroit, where I earned my degree in Journalism from Wayne State University and an Executive MBA from Pepperdine University. My entrepreneurial spirit led me to create an empire that dominated the beauty industry.

In 2016, I shifted my focus to a crucial aspect of personal development: emotional regulation. Understanding the importance of mastering our emotions for overall well-being, I developed the transformative “Relaxed and Regulated” program. This 12-week coaching program, available in both group and one-on-one formats, provides women with the tools to achieve emotional balance and lead more fulfilling lives.

My commitment to emotional wellness doesn’t stop there. I’ often speak on Emotional Regulation for private groups, companies and conferences. It’s an opportunity to experience my unique blend of inspiring storytelling, interactive workshop sessions, and intuitive insights that are often life-altering for participants.

I’m known as the “Queen of Reinvention,” and I continue to inspire and guide women towards success. My dynamic career and unwavering dedication to empowering others make me a beacon of hope and motivation for those looking to transform their lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been anything but smooth, but each twist and turn has shaped me into the person I am today.

Growing up in Detroit with a single mother who struggled with mental health issues and addiction was tough. She gave me all she could, but it was a constant battle. At 19, I reunited with my father, who was also an addict. Tragically, he passed away from complications of his addiction just ten years after we reconnected. By the time I was 32, both of my parents had passed away. I also faced heartbreak early on, losing my fiancé to cancer when I was just 20.

Professionally, I’ve had my share of ups and downs as well. I’ve been an entrepreneur for most of my adult life, with short but impactful stints in corporate America. When I was chasing my dream of becoming a makeup artist in LA, I slept on the living room floor with six other people, all of us trying to make our dreams happen. Oddly enough, that was one of the best times in my life.

Eventually, I “made it” and became the personal makeup artist for a famous model and actress. It was fantastic until it wasn’t. One day, I saw on the blogs that she had a new makeup artist. There was no conversation, no explanation—I was just fired. I was mortified and crushed, but it ultimately opened a new door for me. I pivoted to become an eyelash extension artist, well before it was as popular as it is now, and went on to own a very successful salon in LA.

Throughout my life, I’ve had to start over and reinvent myself countless times. I’ve had many careers, lived in eight states, and I may have many more careers and live in many more places before it’s all done. Each challenge has made me stronger and more resilient, fueling my passion to help other women navigate their paths.

That’s why I’m so passionate about emotional regulation and personal development. My “Relaxed and Regulated” program is designed to empower women to master their emotions and lead fulfilling lives. I know firsthand how vital it is to manage our emotions to thrive amidst life’s challenges.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I offer high-ticket one-on-one coaching where I provide personalized guidance to women who are facing significant transitions, such as contemplating divorce or overcoming unwanted singleness. Through these sessions, I help them gain clarity and confidence to move forward in their lives. Additionally, I run group coaching programs that create a sense of community and support among participants. These interactive sessions focus on emotional regulation and personal development, helping women to build resilience and emotional mastery.

For those who prefer a more flexible approach, I have developed a series of on-demand courses. These self-paced courses cover a wide range of topics, from emotional mastery to professional success, allowing women to learn at their own pace and convenience. I also engage in speaking engagements, where I share my personal and professional experiences to inspire and motivate audiences. My brand deals and partnerships are carefully chosen to align with my mission of empowerment and growth, further extending my reach and impact.

I specialize in several key areas that are crucial for personal and professional growth. Emotional regulation is a major focus of my work, and through my “Relaxed and Regulated” program, I provide women with the tools and strategies they need to manage their emotions effectively. I also offer relationship coaching, supporting women through all stages of their relationships, whether they are single, in a partnership, or contemplating divorce. Professional development is another area where I excel, helping women turn their passion into profits with practical strategies for career and business success.

One of the things I’m most known for is my ability to empower women. My coaching style is authentic, passionate, and professional, making me relatable and effective. Clients often commend me for my expertise in emotional mastery, which has helped many achieve balance and fulfillment in their lives. My versatility, with a diverse background in journalism, beauty, and business, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to my coaching practice.

What I am most proud of is the transformative impact I’ve had on my clients’ lives. Seeing the tangible, positive changes they achieve is incredibly rewarding. I also take pride in my resilience and ability to reinvent myself. Overcoming personal and professional challenges has made me stronger and serves as an inspiration to others. Lastly, I am proud of the supportive communities I’ve built through my group coaching programs and events, where women can connect, support each other, and grow together.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
The experiences I had early in life taught me the value of resilience and the importance of betting on myself. I believe that every decision, whether it appears good or bad at the time, ultimately leads us to where we are meant to be.

Throughout my career, I have made bold moves that many might consider risky. Leaving the comfort of corporate America to pursue my dream as a makeup artist in LA, I slept on a living room floor with six other dreamers. Despite the uncertainty, those were some of the best times of my life. When I faced a public setback, getting fired by a high-profile client without any notice, I was crushed. But instead of giving up, I saw it as an opportunity to pivot and became an eyelash extension artist, eventually owning a successful salon in LA. Each of these risks paid off, not necessarily in the ways I expected, but by opening new doors and opportunities.

I encourage others to take similar risks and bet on themselves. There is no such thing as a bad decision because every choice we make shapes our journey. It’s all about perspective. What might seem like a failure at the moment can turn into a stepping stone for something greater. By embracing this mindset, we can navigate life’s uncertainties with confidence and resilience. My coaching philosophy is built around this belief, empowering women to take bold steps towards their goals, knowing that each decision brings them closer to their true path.

Betting on myself has allowed me to reinvent my career multiple times, living in eight states and pursuing diverse passions. This willingness to embrace change and uncertainty has made me stronger and more adaptable. It’s a message I strive to impart to my clients: trust yourself, take the leap, and know that every experience is a valuable part of your journey. By doing so, we not only grow but also inspire others to do the same, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and positive change.
