Today we’d like to introduce you to Miles Carter.
Miles, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love for photography started back at the end of high school. I used to hang after school with friends and two of them had cameras. They’d always take pics of us for practice or for fun. At the time, I didn’t have a camera or even thought that I wanted one lol. What really got me to start thinking about it was during senior week. It was myself and two other friends that were selected to be in the fashion book for seniors, and photographers in our school would take photos of us for the book. In my head, I was thinking maybe I should try photography lol, but at the time I didn’t know how I would even get a camera.
Eventually, about a month or two later, my sister actually bought a camera, and I would ask to see it. I never knew how to work it or what to even take photos of lol. I started taking pics of my friends after school but was never really satisfied, ya know? Fast forward a bit… I completely gave up on photography for a while. One day a friend of mine told me to get the camera and come to this photography meet up at Centennial Park. I met a lot of dope people but at the same time, I felt out of place like I didn’t belong.
Later down the line, I found myself getting better and better everyday. The time that I was BTS with rapper “KapG” is really when I started getting noticed more and more. At that point, I just wanted to keep improving myself. Ive found myself to have worked with a number of rappers such as “Yungmal,” “Lil Keed,” “DessDior,” and more. Hoping to work with a lot more artists and models as well.
Has it been a smooth road?
Most definitely hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I would always give up or lose the motivation to even try and keep getting better. I never really had help from anyone coming up; I was always on my own. There’s still so much that I don’t know at the moment but I’m a keep working at it.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m more of a studio-based photographer. That’s really what I’m known for but I’m trying to do more things on location. I’m honestly proud of how far I’ve come and not giving up on something I love doing.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Within the next few years, I hope to have my own photography studio in Atlanta. Also, I hope to be a full celebrity photographer.
