Today we’d like to introduce you to Miles Lee.
Miles, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started learning graphic design at 13 years old. I use to record music so back when MySpace was poppin I wanted to design my own artist page. After falling in love with design, I stopped my music career and started into my path as a graphic designer. Throughout the early stages of my career, I took a few video classes in high school and added that to the rotation of my skills. Shortly after high school, I attended Kent State University in Ohio, where I developed my first clothing company Boy Cult. I’ve always been a true hustler! I set up a print press in my college dorm and had people stopping in my dorm room to shop. After college, I started really getting into the music industry.
In Cleveland, I had the scene on lock! From music videos, club events, concerts and tours, I had a great start to my career as I started to get more popular in the city of Cleveland. I shot videos with Shy Glizzy, Bobby Shmurda, Stalley, Wale, MGK, Dej Loaf, and Billard just to name a few! I also started my personal brand to start helping small businesses with their basic online branding of logos and starter friendly websites. After these years, I’ve then decided to open Pulse Creative. A powerhouse brand structure that will focus on the quality of small businesses coming out of our communities. Pulse Creative is divided into sectors. We have Pulse Creative Agency that focuses on small business branding, launch, growth and education. We also have OnTheRise Media, which focuses on artist, producers, and anyone up and coming in the industry. We provide cinema-grade music videos, event coverage, photography, and tours services. Lastly, we have Atlanta Real Estate Video, which focuses on high-quality real estate photo, video, and aerial drone media.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The path of Entrepreneurship has not been smooth at all! My first time in business was nothing like how it is today. Throughout my career, I’ve learned lessons as a small business owner. You can’t teach what you haven’t experienced! Some major struggles for me would be communication with my audience; finding out what to say and how to say it without aggressively selling my products and offering sales every other day, which lead into another struggle of trying to stay afloat in my personal life, and finances while just in the beginning stages of my business. I had no 9-5 job so every dollar I got had to go to something. I learned to have multiple streams of income at the beginning, no matter if that means working 3rd shirt so I can run a business during the day. Whatever I had to do, I wanted to get to my goal.
Pulse Creative Agency – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Pulse Creative is a brand agency located right here in Atlanta. We specialize in helping launch successful small online businesses through branding, graphic design, package design, web design, photo and video services. We can take a brand from the ideal stages, take them through launch completely, and give them resources to grow with marketing and education! We are most proud that we get to bring ideas to life for everyone with all budgets. We know the challenges of small business, so I created this agency to bring the corporate level quality to help small businesses in our community.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
First and foremost, I give credit to God for directing my path. My mother, Omelia Thornton, owns an accounting firm in Cleveland, Ohio so any questions I had, I knew I could call on my Mom and she’d have the answers. When it came to setting my business up legally and the motivational talks every other week to keep pushing, Mom dukes has been there supporting me. Last by not least, I would like to give credit to my wife Jonae, for always having my back. She’s been there with me when the long nights and early morning became a regular schedule. She motivates me and speaks into me whenever I need, My family keeps me focused on the end goal.
