Miranda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2014, I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations. From there, I ventured into the corporate world of marketing. For two years, I worked in a marketing department learning how to manage social platforms, curating engaging content, building the referral program and many other valuable responsibilities. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my role, I had hit a creative ceiling I was ready to break through.
I founded Occipital Media on a genuine desire to assist local businesses in achieving growth. We want to learn about the passion behind your company. We want to know what motivates you to work so hard to service your audience. From there, we want to manage and create any marketing campaigns that portray your story directly to your audience the way you envisioned.
Being a small business ourselves, we understand the importance of connecting with your community. The engagement of your community contributes to your success. By cultivating a brand strategy that represents your business, Occipital Media aims to start a conversation. Creative content leads to conversation, conversation leads to relationships. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My biggest challenge when entering the world of freelance was learning how to value my time. I often jumped the gun on opportunities out of such a strong desire to help, in turn leaving myself frazzled and not making as large as an impact as I knew I could. Now that I have found my balance, the everyday chaos of freelancing keeps me sane. I love to be challenged for it always ends up being a lesson learned.

Occipital Media is a Digital Marketing Agency that specializes in social media management, website development, consulting and photography. Growing engagement with small business owners is one of the many things that makes us tick. We are proud to have an impact on entrepreneurs dreams whether they are in year 1 or year 20 of their business.

My sweet parents deserve all the credit for raising me to be the independent, free-spirited soul I am today. They taught me, I could do anything I set my mind to. When I came to them with the idea of quitting my job with a 401k + benefits, I was sure they were going to steer me in another direction, I was ecstatic when they responded: “Go for it!”
