Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Barker.
Candace, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a native of middle Georgia and I have always had a passion for helping others. During my adolescent years, I volunteered in my local community with needy families and children. It was then that I realized my calling was to serve those individuals and families that find themselves in desolate times. I pursued my education and received a Masters Degree in Social Work. After attending college, I worked in various public and private agencies. Mahatma Ghandi once wrote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” I feel that as a woman, a mom, and a business owner, I have a voice. My voice is important and I should use these tools to reach others. Our veteran community needs voices as they can often face many different struggles. As an American, I feel indebted to our military service members and want to assist in any way possible. In my professional career, I hope to bring awareness through MCCS by employing veterans and building connections in the military environment.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with all new businesses, the challenges can seem overwhelming. The hurdles of starting a business, reaching customers, financial processes, etc. are all important foundations for a promising business. One of our first challenges was moving to the middle Georgia area after being in Valdosta for over ten years. This was a huge leap of faith but, we knew our calling was to serve others in this area. I believe challenges can produce character and discipline. Mission Critical Comfort Solutions has had significant growth in the past six months; we feel this is a direct result of our trustworthy and reputable team. Our overall goal is to establish a relationship with our community and provide services to ensure customer comfort and ease. The team at Mission Critical perseveres regardless of the challenges we face because we focus on the ultimate goal: serving our community.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Mission Critical Comfort Solutions is a female and veteran-owned residential and commercial HVAC company in the Middle Georgia area. We offer a vast range of services including installs, preventative maintenance and repairs. Our company logo, “We served our country now, let us serve you,” is one of the key elements that distinguish our HVAC company from others. It is important to us that we produce superior work, establish lasting customer relations, and build strong community connections. As a woman, owning a business has been my optimal goal. As I share this opportunity with my brother, a Captain in the US Army, I could not be more proud and honored as we embark on this endeavor together. My role as an owner and Administrative Manager includes overseeing day to day operations and supporting staff. I also assist in engaging our community through public outreach as well as, maintaining social media connections. It is my aspiration that Mission Critical Comfort Solutions will bring awareness to our Veteran and current service members by assisting veterans and promoting change.
