Meet Miyah Knight of Eat It Up

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miyah Knight.

Miyah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Food has always been a huge part of my life. I grew up searching ways to make it into a career, but conventional ideals of being a chef and owning a restaurant were just not my style. So I redirected my awkward commentary with my imaginary audience over every yummy meal into the lens of a camera. Meanwhile, before making food my co-star, I sidetracked into an unexpected career in modeling. It was always a figment of my dreams, but in 2015, I made it a reality with a boutique agency in New York. With Fashion Week and a few commercials under my belt, I then developed the confidence to take my food page to the next level. Therefore, Eat It Up was born!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No business worth pursuing has a smooth road. My biggest struggle is simply getting my show off the ground. There’s so much to consider when developing a show because the majority of the anguish lies right before the launch of each season. Thankfully, what I’m learning is that there’s no true, such thing as a journey “to” success, but a road “through” it. Success is the journey.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Eat It Up is a food travel series following my scattered cravings around the world. I travel to various cities to “catch the crave” & indulge in that episode’s sought out flavor. The goal is to find new places that bring out the nuances of the flavors that will be the start of each episode in a way that is relaxed, humorous, and inviting. The series will also feature a separate segment called “Side Dish” that lets me hear from admirable individuals and glean from their wisdom over their favorite dish.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Advice to myself for starting over: stay the course. It may not get easier, but it will be even more worth it. Seek positive council; not all criticism is for your benefit. No one can get it all done alone, build a solid team. Lastly, just do it! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and go back to review.
