Meet Molly Jones of Wag & Purr in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Jones.

Atlanta native Molly decided after ten years in advertising that it was time to do what she loved and went for it! Being a professional and pet parent herself, she understood how important it was to have someone fully dedicated to her fur babies’ care when she couldn’t be. Hence her well-thought-out plan to start her own pet sitting business in Atlanta, which has grown to 10+ dedicated sitters since June 2010.

Molly attributes Wag & Purr’s success largely to the top quality pet sitters she hires, assuring they not only surpass her expectations but more importantly, her clients’ expectations. This allows Molly to focus on her better talents of scheduling and keeping things organized.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I consider myself lucky in comparison to other stories I’ve heard from pet sitting business owners trying to grow their businesses. Atlanta is a certainly a great market for it!

The hiring process has probably been my biggest struggle, not necessarily from the standpoint of finding the right people (because there are lots of great ones in Atlanta), but from knowing when there’s enough business to warrant another sitter.

I want to ensure we have everything covered during our busy seasons, but also want to ensure my sitters have enough work during our lulls.

Wag & Purr – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Wag & Purr offers fully customized pet sitting services, including dog walking, pet sitting and overnight sitting. We’re available 365 days a year, we’re bonded and insured, and most importantly, we have a huge love for animals!

What I’m most proud of, as a business owner, is the commitment that my sitters put into this part-time job. Most of our clients have had the same sitter for the past five years, which sets us apart from a lot of our competition.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment (or more like my biggest milestone) was when I eventually moved from handling some of the pet sitting/dog walking to completely managing the business.

It was nice to finally have my weekends and holidays back (or at least in a sense where I could work from any location). Ironically, I met the man I was going to marry during that time, and our travels proved to me the business could be successfully run remotely.

Soon after we married, Dan’s career brought us to Albuquerque, NM, which is where we now reside with our beloved rescue dog, Shamrock. Wag & Purr ATL continues to thrive with me running it from my home office overlooking the mountains, but I also love coming back home to Atlanta for my quarterly business meetings with my sitters.

Wag & Purr ABQ was established in Spring 2018, and I look forward to building the business here and meeting new furry friends!
