Thanks for sharing your story with us Montel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a 26-year-old African-American Gay Male from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. I’ve been in Atlanta, GA coming up on my 4th year living here, I am a high profiled fashion stylist, most know, me to work in the celebrity industry styling tons of major clients but I’ve done way more than just industry people. I designed and styled for all ages and ethnicity outside of the celebrity lifestyle. I fell back off the industry work about two years ago to continue to focus my dream on having my own brand that I can image consult people with and give them a real taste of my style and grace aside for what I’m known for! I have a very big and bubbly personality I love people especially really supportive and genuine people. That’s why I decided to move here to ATL to pursue my dreams with my brand of many collections coming very soon as well as working on my very first Life Documentary which is called “Being Montel” that shows so much of me, where I came from, how much I’ve done and accomplished and how with all the past hurt and pain that I’ve endured while making myself a household name. I’m just here to push everyone to win while accomplishing my goals through so much trial and error and to also let you know there’s enough room for us all, let’s win together!!
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road getting to where I’m at now, I’ve lost a lot and gain many, but to be honest, stress turns into success and pain is lame, this is your game, you gotta be the person with the controller to determine what’s next, that’s what kept me going, talking myself out of things and proving them with my actions!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Fashion Killa Collection – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Fashion Killa collection is a collection that is always “FEARLESS” & “FIERCE” no matter if it’s the simplest item, it will set off your whole look for you to feel that you’ve killed the fashion part of your meaning to your look. I am known for being a Wardrobe stylist, more than just a “Wardrobe stylist,” I am an Image Consultant because I hold so many titles of things. I’m not saying I’m perfect at every little thing, I just know how to do what’s needed in this industry to collect all bags which falls into hair, makeup, etc. I’ve learned how to consult your image that you’re trying to achieve or change! I’m most proud that my company is still standing after rebranding a lot of us lack consistency and that’s why I’m so proud to say that this year of March the 18th, I’ve been legally in business for one year! The things that set me apart from others is that no matter how much I spread myself thin I get it done and I want my collection to touch all bases men, women, teens, children, plus size, etc. No one’s left behind, we all can be “Fashion Killa’s” very simply!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Atlanta because of the southern hospitality, the arts, there’s always something to do and the support of the LGBTQ community as well as everyone, no one is left behind. I least like that, at times, people get so caught up in wanna be the “Who’s Who” or the celebrity industry light they let that change them for the bad and forget where we come from and how hard we worked for it.
