Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Murray.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Mike. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Our photography journey began in Greece while celebrating our anniversary. We bought our first DSLR camera in anticipation of our trip, but with our lack of knowledge, we couldn’t do the country’s beauty any justice. When we returned to the states, we decided right then and there to invest in some classes and learn the in’s and out’s of our camera before the next trip. In doing so, we discovered a shared passion, and have spent the past year developing our signature style of bright and vibrant colors, clean lines, and captivating expressions.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, there have been quite a few struggles! The biggest has been maintaining balance. We’re constantly juggling working full time, photography, our own skill development, and any personal projects we might have on our own. My wife runs a travel and food blog called Suitcases and Seasonings too so staying on top of everything has definitely been a challenge. Luckily, we’re blessed with some great friends and family who’ve continued to support us from day 1, booking shoots, reposting our pictures, and just being there in general.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Essentially, we’re a husband and wife photography team servicing the metro Atlanta area. I’m the main photographer/editor and my wife Erika functions as a second shooter and manages most of the back-end administrative duties. Right now we shoot it all! People, places, events, food, and products. Our style particularly shines with people, especially portraits and lifestyle photography. We’re known for extremely bright and vibrant photos. We really try to bring out the colors in a photograph while maintaining the focus on our subjects. There are a ton of amazing photographers in Atlanta but our bright style, affordability, and unique perspective help to separate us from the pack.
What were you like growing up?
Ha! Nearly the exact same as I am now, I was perhaps even more reserved than I am now, which I still tend to be. My interest hasn’t really changed with the exception of photography. Growing up, I was into basketball, museums, sneakers, video games, and art. I always leaned toward the creative side of things but didn’t really know where to put that energy until I recently fell into photography. It’s been a fun ride so far.
