Meet Myke Robb of MJR Enterprises Talent & Management in East Side

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myke Robb.

Myke, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My amazing journey starts at home where I was created, Philadelphia, PA, the city of brotherly love and birthplace of the most amazing artistic artist that grace the world today. Around 2005-2006 after high and in between college, the world of fashion modeling began to call me and I didn’t even know it yet.

I started the journey with my cousin Mike who eventually took a different path for his career some years later but before that we were the Myke & Mike male model duo. We were apart of a lot of upcoming fashion shows around the city to get our names and experiences going. I did several shows up and down the east coast from New York to as far as South Carolina and back to Philly. In the process of my growth in a short time as a male model, I felt stuck and didn’t how to evolve and needed a change. One day a great loving friend of mine and successful high fashion model Zoe Monique introduce me to a local Philly designer name Shay, I casted for her show but she was looking for high fashion models and I was nothing close but I had potential grit to for the bill, thus spark a change in my style and look.

As time grew, I was in transition to change from an urban model to a high fashion model. In the process of my change, other opportunities started to come my way. Around 2008-2009 I was casted in my first local movie called “The Only Way Out” by life media films, it was a pretty good Tri-state success. In the background, I was also becoming interested in the business aspect of the entertainment world but did not know how to master it yet, so I became a student of that said of the business. Between the support from my family and new support of follow industry peers, I knew there was a chance to grow bigger in this business I just needed to be patient.

Fast forward some years, in 2011 things in my personal life started to go wrong and I needed a huge change in my life. With minimal timing and planning, I had Atlanta in my sights as a possible new beginning. Although it was very hard to understand for my family, I still received unconditional support from them to find myself and pursue my career in entertainment. After a few months of being here, I decided to call this my new home and work my ass off to make the career speak for itself.

I tried modeling down here but the fashion scene was struggling very bad and after a few bad experiences, I decided to retire from modeling, but not from the industry. I knew that what I saw was that models and talent, in general, were getting jerked around because they had minimal support, lack of knowledge and no direction about the industry and I wanted to help change that. One day a family friend makes Tanya contacted me about her daughter Karina and expressed how she needed a mentor to help build her career as a model, I gladly excepted the challenge little did I know it would grow from there.

The next thing I know within the first year my mentorship turned in into talent management with five clients on my roster and before I knew it in 2015 MJR Enterprises Talent & Management was born. People saw everyday people of struggle talents turned into professional, well-mannered clients which is very rare now and days. As I was building MJR I linked back up with Shay who had a few projects that we became partners on and that helped with my brand as well. Our partnership and friendship stretches close to 20 years together in this business together and I give her credit where it’s due. But like every business, it has it downfall and MJR is no different.

One year most of my clients had different paths and agendas they all wanted to peruse and take, so they moved on with respect and Gratitude from what they learned with me and the company and I thank them all for that so I sat MJR down, to took a break ask for assistance and rebranded myself and my company. Today MJR has the same values as day one, “Building a Legacy for the future of entertainment” but this time driving the attention to managing small entertainment businesses as the main focus. MJR Enterprises currently has five entertainment businesses under brand which includes Pitch Black Fashion Week CEO/Producer Shay & Myke Robb Co-Producer , Bonheur Lifestyle Magazine Editor/CEO Shay & Myke Robb as Creative Director, Scripted1 Clothing Creator/CEO Shay & PR Myke Robb, Legacy Runway Show CEO Myke Robb & Industry Unleashed Podcast Creator/Host/CEO Myke Robb.

Each brand works in Synchronization in its own right and has allowed me and the MJR brand to grow as a collective. It has also allowed myself and the brand to work with amazing local artists and major celebrities like “Raheem Devaughn, LEON, King James Worthy, Nesha Nycee, Renee Montgomery” just to name a few. You may ask yourself by now, what’s next or what new projects should we expect? As of now, each brand will continue to push amazing new content, products and productions in addition to myself personally, I will be taking the acting journey real soon as I am now searching for the right acting school to help develop my craft to be stronger than I was before.

Has it been a smooth road?
This journey has not been smooth at all. As an artist, entrepreneur, etc. you have to have good steady hands to juggle this lifestyle and your everyday personal lifestyle. If you don’t it will eat you alive. What I can say is that, if your wearing as many hats as I am, “make it make sense”. Keep surrounding yourself with like-minded people. Know that it’s dam good to say “NO” to a lot to things, and my most original favorite “Never let your excitement make your decisions”

So, as you know, we’re impressed with MJR Enterprises Talent & Management – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
MJR Enterprises Talent & Management is an entertainment company that represents small entertainment businesses. From PR, Creative Development to client representation. The most important thing I am proud of as a company is the everlasting results we have on the clients we worked with. No matter which brand we met them through, they are all were treated like true professionals and that’s what stands out with them. First appearance is everything.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love about the Atl is the thirst for entrepreneurship and black-owned businesses. Besides being Hollywood south, that’s what keeps me here. But what I do not like is the negative competition. This industry and city is too big for us to be competing against one another. Not only that, if these talents start realizing that it takes more than a microwave to make their career, we’ll have more of today’s generational artists to stick around vs one-hit wanna b’s.
