Today we’d like to introduce you to Myke Sims.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m originally from Bastrop, LA. It’s located in northeast Louisiana. I came to Atlanta, officially, in 2004. I wanted to be around to help my mom out with my little brother. I graduated from Lovejoy High School in 2006. I bounced around for a while, trying to get a basketball scholarship. I ended up getting a scholarship playing ball at Philander Smith College, in Little Rock, AR. I decided that I wanted to go into fashion after college because it was already a lifestyle for me. I started promoting at the clubs to meet celebrities so that I would be able to push designs towards them. I used wardrobe Styling to get my pieces out there. Now, I’m in the process of getting the pieces in exclusive boutiques.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The most challenging thing is being in demand by so many people, but I still have to do everything by hand.
Please tell us about Myke Sims Collection.
I’m developing a luxury fashion house that not only consists of custom designs and other luxury items but also wardrobe styling and tailoring service.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have made sure that I had major distribution before I put any custom pieces out. I would have always had ready-to-wear items as well.
