Meet Nadia Carter of MaccTheShooter Photography in Southside Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Carter.

Nadia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been taking photos since I was eleven. I started taking photos with my mom’s camera phone and I was in love with how you can. take a photo of something and make it come to life. I started begging my grandmother and mom to buy me a real camera so I could go to school and take pictures of my friends. They did not buy me a camera until I turned twelve, and that’s where it all started for me. I took my camera everywhere with me! I took photos for my friends so we can post them on social media, and I love to edit my photos so I would have friends message me about them, and ask me to edit some of theirs and I haven’t looked back since.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been easy for me honestly, it started out awesome. I was getting booked left and right until one night someone broke into my car and stole all my equipment. I felt like I lost my whole world seriously and didn’t know where to start or what to buy first honestly, and I still had clients calling me trying to book sessions. I couldn’t do the one thing I loved, and I was crushed by it, but I saved, saved, and saved and got me a new camera and another lens. Within a couple of months I was able to order some more studio lights as well which I was super excited about.

Please tell us about MaccTheShooter Photography.
MaccTheShooter Photography is urban but modern in a way. I love to try new things and when I have a client come to me about their ideas, I can’t wait to bring them to life. From finding the right locations to having the perfect props for them. I always want my clients to know and feel comfortable when booking with MaccTheShooter.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Well, how about when I broke my first camera? I was in middle school of course, and it was the weekend. My cousin and I always go to her moms’ house and play outside. I put my camera on top of my aunt’s car and started to play outside. It’s been about an hour now and my aunt comes out of the house to tell us to get the car with her. We’re probably three mins into the ride and next thing you hear is my camera being swung from the top of the car to the middle of the street. My aunt turns her car around and I jump out to save my camera but it was too late. I had broken my first professional camera.
