Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadiyah Beyah.
Hi Nadiyah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started when my siblings and I planned our dad’s 50th birthday party. That entire planning process was so thrilling to me. Toward the end of the party, I knew I wanted to invest my time into party planning. Throughout the years, I enrolled in many classes focused on learning the business side of running a successful event-planning business. Today I am happy to say that I am an event planner & coordinator that focuses on decor and floral designs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth road, what’s that?!? lol. Through the years there has been many obstacles that I’ve faced. Some of them included not giving myself enough time to set up an event, not hiring enough staff to assist and not charging enough for my services and not promoting my business. With each challenge, I’ve gained knowledge on better ways to improve. I am grateful for the challenges. I believe they have made me a businesswoman.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the lead event planner and designer for DiVents LLC. We are an event planning company based in Atlanta, GA. We specialize in event planning, design/decor and coordinating. We also specialize in floral arrangements; one of my favorites! We are known for event decor. I grew up in Atlanta, GA in an African American Muslim community. One thing that I am most proud of, is that my company is available to my help community. Whether the budget is large, small, or no budget at all. I love that I can give back and help the community that helped build my foundation. I am a creative, I don’t box myself in one category. There’s nothing that won’t try to create. My mom is an amazing seamstress, and my dad is the best contractor in Atlanta. We are a very hands-on family. I get my art from them.
What’s next?
My first plan for the future is to get my own event space. For years, I have been wanting to host an event at a space I can all my own. So, I am educating myself on how to achieve that goal VERY soon. My other goal is to improve in my skills and promote my business more. With that, I know I can be more successful.
