Today we’d like to introduce you to Nailah Copeland.
Nailah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I always knew I wanted to be a cosmetologist. I obtained my cosmetology license while in H.S. I was determined to learn all that I could so I worked in on the top salon spa in Alexandria VA. My career journey has been enjoyable so far I have taken many continuing education classes including the Vidal Sasoon Academy, Mizani certification, L’Oréal Professional INOA certification and many more. I have participated in many fashion shows including NY fashion week with Byron Lars. I have worked with BET for Rip the Runaway, VH1 Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, and Ebony hair magazine as part of the editor’s top 10 picks. I am now adding to my resume trichologist to be able to service those that are experiencing hair loss and scalp disorders.
Has it been a smooth road?
I was sick and had surgery both my junior and senior year of high school. I had to attend many hair shows and classes to make up for the loss of time in school. I was not going to hinder my goals of being a licensed cosmetologist.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Asha’s Hair Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in healthy hair care in color, extensions, natural styling, updos, scalp care and, hair loss treatment. I offer the ultimate salon experience with every visit.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the coming years, I see the growing need for trichology. I see people wanting better answers for their hair loss needs especially those associated with traction alopecia (loss of hair associated with the tension from tight braiding and styling).
