Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Seyy.
Naomi, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
At ten years old my class was assigned to do a black history project on a person whom we admired. While other children were choosing civil rights activists such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks I gravitated towards someone who inspired me in other ways, the Creole Goddess Josephine Baker.
Due to hardships and overall dysfunction, my family was not able to provide me with the training I so desired. They did not see the potential in the beautiful being that they created. However, that did not stop me from doing the one thing I loved the most. Through middle and high school I created and joined various dance teams, groups, and lines to express my passion.
When I graduated high school, I attended Virginia State University, where I performed with an entertainment group and a dance theatre. I obtained my B.S. degree with a minor in dance. While in college, tough times came about I needed a quick form of income. I decided why not try exotic dancing? I fell in love all over again. The athleticism and poise of a pole dancer are one of the most glorious things I have witnessed and performed. I moved to Atlanta in September 2017. Where I’ve been apart of various Burlesque Troops and a dance agency. I’ve taught at pole and dance studios all over Atlanta. I am now currently working on my own business, Seyy Studios. Where everything is Erotic.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am an Erotic performer and instructor. My acts include but are not limited to; Candle Wax shows, Burlesque, Pole, Lyra and Chair Dance. I teach Pole, Twerk, Flexibility and Lap Dance as well. Available for Personal Sessions, Parties and Events.
I am and always have been a Sensual woman. In my performances, I Entertain and Entice.
I believe that we should embrace our sensuality in every way every day. I want every woman to know that she is BEAUTIFUL and SEXY. She should be confident in her sensuality. If she isn’t, I vow to help her become that Sultry self-assured woman. My art welcomes all shapes, shades, and ages.
The stereotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
As a “Starving Artist” you must Create your own lane. Use your resources and make connections. Network and stay focused. A true Dream is bigger than any challenge.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
