Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Hall.
Natasha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been an athlete. When I graduated I got to college & they did not offer any of the sports I participated in which was gymnastics & soccer. So fast forward I moved to Atlanta with my now ex-boyfriend. We ended up moving downtown to a not so great spot in a not so great neighborhood lol. If you are familiar with Atlanta, I lived in the Old Fourth Ward off of Boulevard. It’s a little better now but when. I lived there it was crazy. So the week before Christmas in 2012, my car got broken into.
At the time, I couldn’t pay to get it fixed. I was also transitioning to a vegetarian diet during this time. Because of my car, I had to start walking, biking, taking the train etc. The train station was a mile from my house & sometimes I would make the trip 2x a day. So what happened was I started noticing my clothes were fitting better, I had more energy & I was like wow I’m losing weight!
After that, I started working out in the park every day. I would run to Piedmont Park, workout in the Old Fourth Ward Park & its history from there. I Decided this was something I wanted to do for myself as well as inspire other girls like myself to get in shape! At first, I called myself “CurvyFitt” & from there I evolved into the BodyGawd.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has definitely NOT been smooth! I’ve had t move back home with my family in VA. Then I came back to Atlanta. It was ok for a few months. I won’t go into details as to how, but I ended up homeless & slept in my Honda for 3 months starting in October. During this time I was still training clients but I didn’t work from a gym I only trained outside. My clients had no idea I was homeless. Honestly, a lot of people still don’t know, but they will now lol
We’d love to hear more about your business.
So I am the BodyGawd. I’m a trainer in Atlanta & I specialize in women’s fitness. My goal as a trainer/brand/fitness personality is to teach women that first its ok to be a little cute & curvy. We all have different body shapes & sizes. The goal should be to be healthy & feel good about yourself & have confidence. It’s not all about a look.
I’m also VERY big on ability over everything. I may not look like it, but I can outdo some of your favorite trainers in the gym!! I feel like what sets me apart is just the message I convey t women & what I stand for. Everyone does not want to be skinny or have a 6 pack, & that’s ok. Everyone has different goals & a different idea of what looks fit to them & I’m the girl they come to for that.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I would absolutely tell someone to start a fitness business in Atlanta!! The city is blowing up. There are so many people so there is room for everyone to eat.
