Meet Nick Burton of Eternal Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Burton.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Dreams will never expire, but you must have the drive to chase them. Something I know all too well as the owner of Eternal Designs. As a lifelong artist, I have been driven my whole life by my passion to create. Which serves as the main cornerstone of Eternal Designs foundation. My journey into screen printing started in high school where I initially learned this skill. After graduating high school, I was unable to find a job in the creative field I wanted. So, I did the next best thing at the time and began working at a software company where I created interactive online training material. After years of work there, I became very burned out from the lack of creativity and growth at the company. So, I left my corporate job and in 2014 created Eternal Designs.

At the time, I was very devoted and inspired by the move to start a new business however when I started, I had zero customers and zero reputation in my community. At this point, I begin to create a strategy for how I would acquire clients while creating a branded look for my company. After working with a few local sports teams along with a local sports recreational center. I was beginning to make name for myself, growing my company through power of “word of mouth”. This form of growth allowed us to build a company focused on great connections, quality service, and one of kind design. Over the last eight years, Eternal Designs has grown, focusing more on the work we do with schools/universities, small business/nonprofit, and retail clothing brands. We are also working to inspire and establish creativity-driven opportunities that have been nonexistence for the local youth in our community. We are doing this through our local school partnerships and mentorship programs.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I initially started this business, I can admit I was little naïve about the ins and outs of this industry. The business required a lot of time to figure things out and a lot of attention to details I was unaware of when I started. It also required something most businesses struggle with in the beginning and that is capital.

A lot of our struggles early on had to do with things we experienced though trial and error. This ranges from issues we encountered during the printing process, product misprints due to bad workflow, poor customer facing issues, and long issues with locating the right vendors to work and find product. We have corrected a lot of these early issues and created a process to refine and improve our workflow as we grow.

As we began to grow, we faced a few challenges finding the right space to grow into along with issues finding the right equipment to grow our business.2020 also presented a lot of challenges as COVID-19 affect everyone. One struggle that we are currently facing is issue with the supply chain as shortages have been an ongoing issue.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a company built on a foundation of creativity and creative express. Our passion for the arts is why we do what we do. We are not in this for the money, we are not in this for the frame. We do this because we are passionate about art and want to do our job of sharing your creative expression with the world.

We specialize in garment decoration in the form of screen printing and embroidery. We are best known for having high-quality prints, vibrant colors prints, easy ordering, and fast turnaround.

I would have to say our turnaround time. I like to say we are a very “agile” company. Because we are not as big as others, it allows us to move at a certain pace. This, along with all the automation we have in place, as helped us to move quite quickly and get a lot done in little to no time.

It would have to be for our print quality. Over time, people have come to know us as a quality first company and that they are getting the best product and service when they decide to use us. This one thing has done wonders for our brand and reputation.

Eternal Designs is a full-service merchandising company specializing in high-quality screen printing, embroidery, retail finishing, and fulfillment services. We are passion about art and creativity on all level. We truly love working with people and creating the products of their visions, thoughts, and dreams.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The people. It just a melting pot of culture that brings out a lot of different viewpoints and perspectives.

I would say that thing I least like would be the traffic.
