Meet Nehemiah DeRoche of Atlanta, Georgia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nehemiah DeRoche.

Hi Nehemiah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hey my name is Nehemiah DeRoche, I’m a passionate artist whose journey is deeply intertwined with my faith. Born in Austell Georgia, I grew up in a Christian household, which greatly influenced my personal and artistic development. In my early years, I began exploring music, initially writing songs at the age of 13 that I later described as “nonsense.” But it wasn’t until I was 15 where I went on my first Daniel fast, that God completely changed my life. I knew from at a young age that music was going to be a very dominant passion in my life. I grew up watching a lot of Michael Jackson and Chris Brown, so at many times I found myself always wanting to be just like them. Fast forward 2 years later, I was waking up for another causal day of being a junior in high school, but this day in particular was the day I found out I could sing. Like really sing. It hit me so quick and all of a sudden. But what it did was it really showed my the raw power of having faith and just simply trusting God. Because little did I know that during my first ever Daniel fast 2 years prior, I wrote in my journal asking my father if he could faithfully bless me with the gift and talent of singing. And would you look at that! He was of course so faithful and miraculous, that he blessed me with that gift 2 years after sacrificing for it. Now 6 years after asking, I would have never ever in my life thought that I’d be completely and solely devoted to making clean, authentic, and positively edifying music. All glory to God!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think personally every good thing comes with its fair share of bad things. So for me, yes I’ve experienced the hate, the lack of confidence, the warfare of being a good person in a cruel gritty world, and so on. But bigger than all those struggles is what I stand for, and that is to always stay true to myself while spreading the love of Jesus and his salvation by any and all means. With God always having being first in my life, I’ve come to be a lot more resilient to the shame this world has to offer. Not exempt, just gracefully resilient, all glory be to him!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So I am an up and coming young aspiring artist that isn’t just making music to entertain. I see it now as my purpose and divine calling. My work is of course grounded in my Christian faith, and I always want to make sure I am using my platform to inspire, uplift, and point listeners toward hope and purpose. I feel like that spiritual foundation gives my music a bit of emotional depth and intentionality that resonates beyond the surface. I don’t shy away from being transparent about my growth and struggles, and I will always try my best to be relatable and genuine to my audience. In an industry often dominated by trends and image, I tend to focus more on substance. Many of my songs and their lyrics often touch on themes such as redemption, brotherhood, perseverance, and love, topics that I feel carry a lot of weight and long-term value. While my music is still at an adolescence, it isn’t boxed in stylistically. I am always trying to blend genres and sounds in a way that stays very current while still delivering a clear, uplifting message. That balance of relevance and reverence makes what I do way more accessible to a wider audience. I’m not afraid to experiment, and if I want to try something different, it’s always with a foundation of integrity.

What matters most to you? Why?
God! Amen for my music and my deep rooted passions, but God is and will always be the most important thing in my life. Because without God, there is no impact, there is no inspiration, there is no singing, and there is no Nehemiah DeRoche. Nothing can or will ever come before my Lord and savior!
