Meet Nermin Jasani of We are Wildly Successful

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nermin Jasani.

Hi Nermin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I graduated from law school, I had a clear picture of where I wanted to be in ten years – a partner in a big law firm in New York City. Well, once I actually started practicing law, being a lawyer, and doing the day-to-day in Manhattan, I felt incredibly unfulfilled and like something was missing. I would wake up, get on the train to the office, work all day and through lunch, then work out, have dinner, sleep, rinse and repeat.

At that time, I had an idea for a tech start-up, and I left my corporate job, started my law firm and pursued my tech start-up idea.

That idea took me from New York City to Los Angeles, where I spent a year pitching in tech competitions, VCs and understanding the tech start-up space.

After hearing the same thing 1000 times from VCs: you need 100,000 users to get any form of financial funding, I decided to throw in the towel on my idea and came back to Atlanta in 2015.

Atlanta was only supposed to be a pit stop, but I ended up falling in love with Atlanta, to my surprise and decided to create my new business here.

I combined my knowledge as a lawyer and law firm owner with my skills for running and operating successful businesses and voila, my law firm consulting business was born.

Trust me, I’m much happier and satisfied being a business owner than I would have been if I became a partner at a New York City big law firm.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My path to getting to where I am today was windy with tons of pivots, heavy moments of doubt, fear, and thoughts like: “am I good enough to be doing this?” and “should I be doing this?”

When I first started my consulting business, I did what everyone does: I charged too little and worked with everyone. I worked with clients who didn’t pay on time or didn’t pay at all. I also spent way too much time on things like marketing and branding instead of getting in front of potential clients.

I got caught up in what other people thought I should do with my business instead of trusting my gut and running the kind of business I wanted to run. I’ve invested thousands in the wrong marketing, coaching, and other programs.

I learned important mistakes along the way, like: what you charge determines the kinds of clients you work with. And more importantly, I get to decide who I want to work with. In truth, that’s one of the reasons I started my own business and continue to run my own business. The challenges are worth it when I know I have the freedom to choose my schedule and my clients.

I fully believe that you don’t stop making mistakes and challenges don’t disappear the longer you’re in business. It does become easier to manage the difficulties because of the years of experience and the deep understanding that these challenges are a way to grow, either the business or myself as a business owner.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about We are Wildly Successful?
We are Wildly Successful is a business consulting firm run by Nermin Jasani, Esq. I am focused on helping women-owned law firms go from being wildly stressed to wildly successful. I especially enjoy working with women law firm owners who are also moms because it can be incredibly difficult to balance being a mom and showing up at soccer games and dance recitals while working 50+ hour weeks and running your own practice. As a business owner, I know that success means something different to everyone. For some, it’s taking Fridays off. For others, it’s $1,000,000 in annual revenue with 50% profitability. My job is to help them achieve that success while being operationally efficient and profitable.

I work with women-owned law firms in three ways: 1) I help you figure out your pricing based on the market you are in and your practice area 2) I help you figure out the right clients to work with and create a unique marketing and advertising strategy based on your financial revenue goal and 3) automate your law firm so you can leverage technology without adding heavy labor expenses.

How do you think about happiness?
I tend to find happiness and joy in the smaller moments of life. Professionally: I could write a really great email to my clients and potential clients and find that process to be enjoyable. I recently wrote an email series on Cinderella and what would happen if she wanted to hire a law firm to help her sue her evil step-sisters and win her childhood home back, and was laughing while writing those emails. I can also automate a client’s law firm and find satisfaction in optimizing a client’s weekly schedule. Personally, I enjoy camping and hiking in National Parks: in the past 24 months, I have visited Rocky Mountain, Joshua Tree, Big Sur, and Acadia. My family and I also spend almost every Sunday together and laughing with my family while enjoying a meal is a beautiful way to wrap up my week. I think that happiness is something that you can experience each day in the little moments. I don’t think it’s a destination but rather what you can experience along the way.
