Today we’d like to introduce you to Neryk Zavulunov.

Neryk, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Started learning at the age of 13 from my father, who also was taught by his father at the age of 13. Opened this business in April 2010 with hardly anyone coming through the door. With flyers and word of mouth, we have transformed the business from one chair working to 5 chairs working. I have renovated the shop several times over the years to make it nice and inviting for clients to relax and unwind.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was very hard in the beginning only doing 1-3 clients a day from 9am-6pm. Going home not knowing if this was the right decision I made and if I would be able to pay the bills. But it has been the best decision.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in men’s grooming. Military high and tights to the business man part we do it all and perfect it. We definitely specialize in beard trims, guys are always nervous to trim their face but no need to be scared here. We also specialize in the straight razor face shave, which most shops don’t do anymore. I have built an amazing team of barbers that are all on the same level of barbering. No matter what chair you sit in you will get an amazing consistent style. Our shop is not just a haircut, it’s an experience, from the moment you sit down we make you feel comfortable. Haircut, neck shave, hot towel and a shoulder massage all included in one price. Also want to mention we have amazing music playing from Frank Sinatra to Louis Armstrong, you feel like you are in a ’50s barber shop

What were you like growing up?
I have always loved meeting new people.. Best job I had was waiting tables cause I would get to meet many people and network. I didn’t always want to be a barber, actually, I wanted to be a chef. I picked the right industry tho, I keep the cooking at home for the family.
