Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Perry.
Hi Nicholas, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
A quick run-down of our journey & pursuit into the world of business & fashion goes a little something like this, we’re a brand of two lifelong friends hailing from a small city within the state of Georgia. Our “Passion for Fashion” grew solely from our love & frequent acquisition of our shoe collection, so it should be to no one’s surprise to know that we’re still devoted “sneaker-heads” til this day. We initially started our brand back in high school in 2017 under the name “Precision Apparel” & although we felt we were moving the business in the right direction, we knew changes had to be made to ensure the longevity & distinctness of our brand. So after a little bit of research & a lot of paperwork, we decided to re-brand into what we know today as “Panurgic”. Furthermore, we continue to strive to bring back exclusiveness & affordability that other apparel brands fail to bring into the fashion realm. Unlike other brands that create pieces based off overused trends, we specialize in being set apart by curating a collection that caters to diverse tastes, making it easier for you to find the perfect pieces to enhance your wardrobe according to your liking & preference. We currently have around 50+ collections currently in our vaults ready to be showcased & released. From sports fans to anime watchers, comic book collectors to music lovers here at Panurgic Apparel rest assured we will deliver an abundance of styles and themes to match your ideal clothing taste! Our brand’s slogan & mission is to “Redefine versatility in fashion.” So with that in mind our brand looks to provide our loyal consumers with endless fashion possibilities that transforms from night to day, work to play and everywhere in between.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As we all know with any business, obstacles tend to come and go, However, as I continue to walk this path by faith and not so much by sight I can honestly say everything since our re-branding has been smooth sailing! Nevertheless one major obstacle that I am currently facing is having to be away from my business partner/vice president of the brand as well as the rest of the Panurgic team since having to move back home to Southwest Georgia after graduating college. Although we keep in steady contact to ensure we’re both up to date on all business endeavors, being able to conduct things such as in person photo shoots and produce social media content can be quite challenging. However, I do plan and have aspirations of moving back to the Marietta/north Georgia area to begin graduate school at Kennesaw State University in the next couple of years to receive my master’s degree in American studies/History. Making this big move back to the city, I know we will be able to get much more done together versus us being in different locations with hopes to bring brand awareness and connect with more diverse individuals.
As I previously stated, the biggest priority for our brand currently is spreading our brand’s presence and growing our loyal community, and do to that I knew my activity and presence on social media had to increase. Showcasing my Digital Visibility while competing for attention on social media and search engines requires consistent, high-quality content and strategic engagement. And simply put these foundations are something I lacked greatly at the beginning of starting our business. Growing up being introverted, unlike my sisters, I was never hooked or to drawn to being on social media platforms as I’d rather connect socially through in real life experiences. But my mother would always tell me if I wanted to thrive in this era of business I would have to “come out my shell” and show up. Besides we know with starting a business in the digital era majority of consumers especially us Gen Z’ers are online and shopping through social media channels so I want to make sure I am right there in the mix connecting and meeting potential new members of our brand’s community. Despite me currently working three jobs, I am sure to take some time out my hectic schedule to brainstorm on different trendy marketing ideas to showcase via social media to keep our consumers engaged & brand’s online presence alive!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been working since I was about 13 years old now 25, I have held a position in just about every field you can imagine. From food services to retail sales, these skills that I have acquired through my time at my day to day job occupations have strengthen my communication skills as well as customer satisfaction abilities. With this my experience across different jobs sets me apart and gives me an unique edge compared to many in my generation. While others may follow a single career path or still undecided, my diverse background shows my willingness to adapt, a drive for curiosity in specialized fields, and a readiness to learn from every environment. This pretty much sums up what it means and takes to be a “Panurgic Person”, someones who is always ready to learn & give it your all no matter the expertise level in a specific field.
My time in retail sales that I currently hold at GNC, as you can see I’m never to far from athletics and keeping my mind and body sharp; this profession has surely impacted my business skills most. As I continue to work and interact directly with customers I learn how to read and listen to people’s needs, respond empathetically, and tailor my approach to different personalities based on their personal goals. These experiences build emotional intelligence and rapport — a crucial trait for managing customer service, negotiating sales, and creating meaningful company experiences not only for my retail sales job but for our brand as well.
As I previously stated, I am currently working 3 jobs to sustain myself and the brand as we continue to grow in the fashion space. Nevertheless, I am currently looking to start an luxurious career in my academic field of study once I settle back in Marietta to begin grad school. Besides work growing up I was greatly into sports which is obvious in a lot of our collection pieces, however with athletics comes academics, So education and schooling has been & is still a big part of my development as a young man and future business leader. My achievements and purpose in education has provided me with a structured environment that challenges me to think critically, refine my ideas, and expand my understanding beyond the practical knowledge I’ve gained through experience. Education has also allowed me to explore new perspectives, theories, and innovations that can elevate both my creative process and business strategy thanks to meeting new diverse people with subjectively different mindsets and ideologies. Furthermore, by merging my hands-on experience in the business space with my academic prowess, I look to strengthen the foundation of our brand and continue evolving and establishing myself as a visionary leader in the fashion industry.
Altogether, my varied job history and retail experience positions me as a well-rounded, people-focused leader — someone who can blend creativity with strategy to grow our fashion brand that truly connects with our target audience and community members.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
This is a great and thought provoking question! Well to me to be a risk taker especially as a young, first-generation business owner in fashion means stepping into an industry defined by constant change, fierce competition, and high creative possibilities and in my case all without the safety net of generational wealth, established networks, or inherited business knowledge. It’s about daring to believe in our vision when the odds seem uncertain, and using that belief as fuel to carve out a space that reflects our identity, values, and purpose.
For a first-generation entrepreneur like myself, risk-taking often begins with the decision to start at all. It means investing time, resources, and emotion into something that may not have a guaranteed outcome. Taking great steps of faith—launching collections that reflect our story, collaborating with members of various communities, and/or pushing creative boundaries—becomes a form of growth and reassurance as my journey into the business world takes grand strides. Each risk I take is a lesson learned, each setback a refinement of our vision and our devotion to success is the driving force behind what keeps this small up & coming brand alive and well!.
As I continue to take these first steps, what I look to truly convey & achieve is to develop this mindset of fearless creation onto others—especially those from underrepresented/underdeveloped backgrounds—in hopes that they can also see and strive for a world of possibility where there was once a void of limitation. Our brand Panurgic, (which means skilled in all kinds of work) we look to enrich those in the fashion community by paying homage to their niche lifestyles and professions while staying original and authentic to our brand’s vision. Our brand contributes to a more conscious world, where fashion becomes not just a product, but a platform for empowerment, connection, and change. Our greatest risk however was our re-branding particularly the trademarking process of our brand’s name, This was an extremely long process but thanks greatly to our team of lawyers we were able to have a smooth transition with The United States Patent and Trademark Office & legally register our right to commercially use and own the word and name Panurgic!
So in totality, being a risk taker in fashion as a young, first-generation entrepreneur is about transforming uncertainty into opportunity. It’s about leading with vision, resilience, purpose and of course humility-knowing that every bold step forward that I take in the business realm not only builds our brand and community, but also shapes a more inclusive and innovative future for the industry and the world around us.
