Meet Nicholas Waters of The Ignant Agenda in Lithonia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Waters.

Nicholas, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Over the years, I have been very active on Twitter. An acquaintance of mine, Mr. Vince Valholla (@VinceValholla on Twitter) would always tell me that I had a platform that people would subscribe to. He would message me often and encourage me to start a podcast. I was very skeptical at first. “Who would listen to me talk to myself for 30-45 min?” (at the time, multiple podcast hosts were not common, so it would literally be me talking to myself about various topics), “I hate my voice, I sound stupid” were things I would say to myself to convince me otherwise. I can admit, my confidence was not as high as I portray. But Vince was consistent, and I am a firm believer that if you are presented with a sign more than three (3) times, that’s God telling you to shut up and pay attention.

Finally, I took Vince up on his offer and did some research about starting a podcast, I studied different equipment, startup costs, and other variables and finally took that leap of faith. I started “The Ignant Agenda” with an associate of mine and eventually branched off to host the show with other contributors, some friends, some family.

The rest is history. This past month we released Episode 164 and are currently operating in our 4th year.

Congrats on passing the 4-year mark. Has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth road? Ha! Of course not. I have struggled with both personal and professional challenges. Anything you can name from relationship struggles to difference of opinions as far as the structure of the show, content development and compensation.

Overall, the biggest lesson I have learned is, consistency beats talent when talent does not work hard!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Ignant Agenda – what should we know?
I am the host of “The Ignant Agenda” a comical social commentary-based podcast that focuses on various topics such as US and World News, social media hot takes, as well as content centered around everyday challenges of millennials dealing with relationships and progressing through life.

I am most proud of the growth of the discussions over the years. I feel my team tackles those though topics that people would normally shy away from. We push the envelop and challenge each other to dig deeper and be honest not only with ourselves but our listeners are well.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel I approach life from a logically standpoint. Things have to make sense. Life isn’t a fairytale. So if there is no logic, in my opinion, there is no solution. My friends and family criticize me often for this, but I feel I say what needs to be said. In some facets, I have been compared to The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne Tha God. As much of a flattering comment as that may seem to some or most, I pride myself on my individuality. I don’t feel as if I process information like most people, which is a gift and a curse when expressing your opinion.
