Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Bigley.
Nichole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, I was always interested in the spiritual and metaphysical. Fast forward into my college years and at that time, there weren’t many (actually any) undergraduate degrees that focused on combining holistic health and wellness with spiritual practices. As a result, I decided to major in public relations (PR) and communications with a minor in business management.
I got lucky because I really love PR work and how it has evolved over the last 20 years. I’ve had the honor of working for some of the biggest and brightest minds out there. But something was missing. While I practiced PR as my full-time job, I started to take classes and studied about different metaphysical and spiritual modalities during my off-time. Everything from energy work to Feng Shui and aromatherapy to prayer. I also became a certified Reiki master.
We’ve come a long way as a society that embraces various religious beliefs and is open to non-traditional health and wellness options. However, I noticed that there wasn’t a lot of mainstream platforms that shared people’s journeys about how and why they decided to become an acupuncturist, healer, shaman, yogi, etc. That’s why I launched a podcast called A Psychic’s Story last summer. An open forum for people to share their experiences and learn about the resources available to them. I still provide communications, media relations and social media guidance and support as my full-time job, but my work on A Psychic’s Story has really allowed me to help others in a completely different and more fulfilling way than I ever thought possible.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think we are all looking over the course of our lives to find out who we really are as human and spiritual beings. That is a beautiful part of life. Learning who are authentic selves are. When you remove the titles of who we are in a family dynamic, work setting or group of friends, how do you describe yourself? It is tough removing the “I’m a mother, sister, friend and co-worker” and replacing it with something like, “I am a loving and giving person.”
And for me, being open and transparent about my spiritual and energy work left me feeling vulnerable to other’s potential judgment. Since then, I have become more empowered to embrace my truth and own authenticity.
Please tell us about A Psychic’s Story.
A Psychic’s Story is a free bi-weekly podcast that takes a behind-the-scenes look at and has conversations with experts in the metaphysical, spiritual and supernatural fields. Topics range anywhere from manifestation and gratitude to medical intuition or the power of symbolism to astrology.
I leverage my decades of intuitive work and PR experience in order to uncover and share more about how others can find out more about available resources, become involved in an area of interest or get in touch with a practitioner.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
It has become more important now than ever before to look inward at ourselves. How we learn, heal and grow from that then enables us to become stronger and in truly in service to others. It took me time to understand that embracing who I am at my core and being authentic by standing in my truth opens me up to not only be successful in my own life but helping others do the same.
