Meet Nicole Belcher

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Belcher.

Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is easy for me to talk about but has came with many obstacles. I knew as a young child that all I wanted to do was be a cop and help local kids stay out of trouble. One of my biggest influences was my aunt, Sgt. Wilborn who broke many racial boundaries within the county I was born in. I played sports throughout my life which unfortunately and indirectly placed me within the career field that I’m in now. My second career choice as a kid was to work with animals and again somehow help my local community. I started out volunteering at a local no kill animal shelter that ended in my favor.

At the time, I did not have a job, and later I was hired as a kennel tech. Swiftly, I ended up working in the clinic assisting the Vet Techs then I became one of them. Now I was living part of my dream. I still had to find my way to help out the community. I started looking after some of my clients’ pets when they went away on vacation or traveled for work. It became a second job for me. Some months I would only sleep in my own bed about 5-10 days because I was pet/house sitting. After months of conversations with my mother, other family members and friends Pawcific Pet Sitting, LLC was born.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As an athlete, I’ve always loved a challenge but obstacles hit me different. Like I stated about my journey to where I am now, being an athlete your entire life puts your body through different changes. I have had 6 ACL surgeries, a back injury as well as a shoulder injury. So, becoming a cop chasing kids was not an option but caring for pets was. I absolutely love my job as a Vet Tech but with my injuries, I know I can’t do this until the normal age of retirement. Creating Pawcific Pet Sitting ultimately would be my retirement. Now what about the other part of my dreams, helping the community? I joined a local nonprofit organization called #LETSGOHERE. Yayyy, my goals have been met and the best is yet to come. The challenge now lies within myself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Pawcific Pet Sitting stands out from other pet sitting companies mainly because there is a nurse that’s taking care of your fur baby and not just a college kid looking to make extra money or a friend doing you a favor. As a nurse, I am able to identify things that to the normal eye seems to be ok. I also can administer medications if needed as well as take your pet to my job (animal hospital) if I see that your pet needs care from an actual doctor. The name comes from the word “Specific”. Pawcific Pet Sitting values your pet’s specific (Pawcific) needs. We have clients from all walks of life; low to upper class workers, actors, doctors, Veterinarians, lawyers, US government workers, family and friends. We welcome all! Of course to complete my dream Pawcific donates 1% of annual revenue to the nonprofit #LETSGOHERE as well as time helping the community. The greatest thing about my career and Pawcific is that I get to do what I absolutely love to do and make a few bucks while doing it.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I give the majority of the credit to the Most High and then my mother. She pushed me until Pawcific was born. Without my late aunt Sgt. Wilborn, none of this would have been possible because the initial vision of my career path started with her influence. There also have been many other influences in my life that pushed and pulled me with the same vision…they all wanted me to “live in this world, not just exist!” Not forget LOVE whatever you end up doing.
