Meet Nicole Grier of Feminine Funk in Reynoldstown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Grier.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Feminine Funk was created because I saw a lack in the plus-size clothing industry in regards to t-shirts. I wanted to create empowering statements that plus size women could wear proudly.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Creating a brand from scratch has not been easy. The saying BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS has rung very true in my story. Starting up was rough because I was trying to figure out the ends and outs of starting a business. Money was a struggle at first. I funded Feminine Funk by working a job, which meant I had to make many sacrifices. Finding reliable people to help me was also a struggle. I lost a lot of money by paying people to do jobs that never got completed or was done very poorly. I always tell upcoming entrepreneurs that you can’t let these types of obstacles get in your way. If the dream is calling you, then you have to keep going.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Feminine Funk – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I run a clothing brand that promotes self-love, empowerment, and body positivity. What sets us apart is that our main customer is plus size women. Being a plus-size woman myself, I wanted to create something for women like me. Our clothes range from size Medium-4x (depending on the style). I am most proud of my latest accomplishment of acquiring a brick and mortar location during a pandemic. My customers will now be able to shop all of the products and attend special events in our new store!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The future is so bright for Feminine Funk! Our new store opens on November 6, 2020, and we look forward to being able to interact with our customers face to face. My favorite thing used to be working at pop-up shops and events because it allowed me to be able to meet my customers and connect with them. I am so excited that we now have a place to call our own and will be able to have that customer experience plus so much more. It’s going to be amazing!
