Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Richmond
Hi Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started singing in the local church and in my school chorus around age 7. My Mom would put on a mixture of the latest r&b songs and gospel favorites while she cleaned up around the house. When company would come over, she’d always tell me to sing for them. I remember being a shy singer when I was a young girl. As I grew older, Id be called on to lead songs in the school choir and at church more and more. While in High school, I was in a girl band/ group who would travel almost every weekend singing spiritual/ gospel songs at local churches in and around the Metro Atlanta area. Once I graduated high school, I decided to try college but after one semester I knew it was not for me. After working in corporate America for a couple years. I felt like I was not walking in my destiny and decided to start back using my voice. I always dreamed of being an international vocalist but had no idea what I was about to embark upon. For years, Id sing here and there at a church or an Open Mic night. Going to auditions to tour as a BGV(Background Vocalist) for major artist, Getting call back after call back but never really landing a permanent gig. Eventually, in 2007. I was cast on a reality show competition called “Welcome to Dream Land” and that show gave me the push I needed to pursue my dreams as an international vocalist again. I searched and searched for international opportunities and finally landed my first gig in Singapore. Id be singing 6 nights a week at the Grand Hyatt hotel with a live band as the lead vocalist for 4 months straight. After that the floodgates opened for me. I went on to travel to Beijing, Ethiopia, Mexico, Malaysia and a Host of other beautiful countries around the world. I traveled as a international lead vocalist for about 15 years. I even had the opportunity to lead a band on Carnival Cruise for a couple of weeks. After years of so called living my dreams, I experienced a great awakening that shifted my journey and my musical aspirations. The years I spent on the road touring I was not involved in church. In 2023, I made my way back to the church where God is using me to lead people in Praise and Worship. Ive served at the now viral 2819 Church and am now the Worship Leader for Abundant life Christian Church in Conyers, Ga. I plan to stay on the path of following Gods instructions for my life and using my voice to lead people into his presence every chance I get.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I ran from the church for so many reasons and so many years. Looking back, I appreciate the journey and I understand, it was all apart of the Gods plan. Travel took a toll on many relationships, not always having the support of family and friends can discourage you as well. Being in between following you dreams or working a job becomes stressful
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Im a Worship Leader. I lead people into the presence of God. I host events, I train other vocalists how to authentically walk in promises of God and use their God given gifts and talents to bring God glory
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
