Meet Nicole Tholmer of Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Tholmer.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been someone people felt comfortable talking with. Around the beginning of the millennium, I started feeling dissatisfied with my current career and wanted change. Once I considered my options – I remembered that I wanted to be a psychologist as a child and people always felt comfortable sharing with me. So after some soul searching I decided to become a counselor. After completing my masters, I began the training necessary to become independently licensed. I gained my experience by working in community settings servicing adolescent and their families. After that I worked with the severally mentally illness in a partial hospital setting. I currently work in a group practice during the week and part-time in my solo practice. I work best with people struggling with life transitions, women that feel overwhelmed with stress and have difficulty reaching their life goals. I help them by giving them the practice solutions they need to move forwards in their lives.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There were some struggles along the way. When training to become a licensed therapist, I was given the knowledge to provide therapy but not to be a business owner. So it has taking some time for me to gain my footing and learn how to start and manage a business. Another struggle was learning how to market on a shoestring budget.

Please tell us about Nicole Tholmer.
I once struggled with finding my life purpose. But I went on to find my gift and built a career that I love. I work with adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s struggling with transition and relationship issues. I have built my experience by working the community, PHP and agencies. My areas of specialties are life transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, and women issues. I provide individual and group therapy services. I work best with women struggling to move through depression and anxiety to experiencing joy and peace. I also work well with women struggling to building satisfying relationships. What I am most proud of as a company is able to play a part in helping people shorten their emotional suffering and find joy again.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have found a mentor starting out that had successfully built a private practice and work with them.
