Meet Norcross Makeup Artist: Sheniedra Fudge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheniedra Fudge.

Sheniedra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2007 in preparation for a holiday party, I decided to add some color to my face for the very first time. I didn’t own any makeup at all. All I wore was shiny lip gloss. So, I went through my grandmother’s makeup bag and found a bright magenta blush. I decided to use it as an eyeshadow. After receiving lots of compliments at the party, I thought that it was something that I was good at. So, I bought eyeshadow palettes here and there and kept practicing. Youtube became my best friend. Fast forward 9 years later, here I am a self-taught freelance makeup artist in Atlanta. I had not realized that its been 9 years until now. Wow!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been smooth sailing. It is still not smooth sailing. I’ve faced the challenge that most entrepreneurs face and that is periods where business is slow. And in those times, I had to fight to stay encouraged and fight to remember that my love for the artistry was God given and it would be a dishonor to him to give up on my dream.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My only plan for my future at the moment is to continue dreaming, continue pursuing my dreams, and to continue living my dreams once I start living them. I am looking forward to inspiring those that I encounter to do and go after what it is that they love to do. God gives us each our own creative ability. I want to inspire people to use theirs.

Let’s explore some of the challenges you’ve faced along the way. What was the most difficult part of your career so far?
The hardest time in my career was in the beginning when I was learning different techniques and learning what my style as a makeup artist was. I received criticism that was a little difficult to receive. I think we all go through that at some point. Just because someone doesn’t like how I do eyebrows or how I do eyeshadow or contouring doesn’t make me wrong or them right. I’m entitled to like what I like just like anyone else. As long as the client is satisfied with my work and they are happy, that’s all that really matters. I didn’t think like this in the beginning, though. I thought that my work had to look like everyone else’s work that I saw. But as I gained confidence, I realized that what I like is what I like. My work represents me and I’m happy that.

Do you ever feel like “Wow, I’ve arrived” or “I’ve made it” or do you feel like the bulk of the story is still unwritten?
That moment for me happened when you guys Voyage reached out to me. I was happy and I felt like this was the start of the future that I know I’ll have! So, thank you for this confirmation!
