Today we’d like to introduce you to Northstar Jade
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a kid I was always around entertainment and music. My dad was an artist himself, my older brother was a musical genius teaching himself various different instruments, and til this day there are still melodies and harmonies my mom would sing that are stuck in my head. With that being said, plus me being an all around music head as a child, I decided to start writing songs at the age of 8. I remember it was about a PlayStation 2 haha, but it overall describes how I make music today, using everything struggles or events to shape the direction of my music. I started to take musically seriously around 13 when i unfortunately lost my father in a traumatic way, I needed a way to vent and get all of the pain out and I turned to music. Overtime I experienced more and more hardships before I was even 17 but with that came improved and improved skills artistically. I ended up teaching myself how to sing and engineer better. Thinking about it now, every traumatic event brought out. A new skill, when I turned 17 I was fighting a felony charge that could send me away for a long time, but in that time while on bond I learned production and got really good at it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part yes but bumps definitely come along. Depending on your journey, you can stuck in your head on why it hasn’t been your turn yet, you can run into bad people who don’t have your best interest, and all around sometimes you have those days where you can’t come up with anything. With all this I always encourage my fans to keep the road bright and instilled in their mind. It’s been many times I almost let this consume me but once I relaxed and stepped back my blessings came and now I’m getting more and more established
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am musician/songwriter/producer but artistry is my main thing. I’m know for my versatile styles of music as I have songs ranging from rap, to r&b to even metal. I’m applauded on my ability to do many genres while sounding like I started in those genres I love music and I love to learn and execute every sound to the best of my abilities. In all honestly I’m most proud of how far I’ve been able to come with music, I’ve racked up many songs with over 70k streams and I have some with over 100k streams. I’ve managed to get over 1 million all around streams and going on 2 million this year. I’m also proud of being a person that has been able to help many smaller artist and even people. There’s people who dm me daily saying I was able to save their life with my songs and vulnerability in my music and that is the ultimate goal for me. I think my versatility and genuine energy I put into the music separates me the most, music was my healing so I really want it to be the same for others.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Honestly, just keep going no matter how it gets. Many people let the numbers get to them but if you really love it, do it! When I was starting out I kept looking at everyone else and getting in my head, now I’ve passed all of those people and learned a lot across the way, this goes for anything NEVER GIVE UP or give in to the bad thoughts. Keep pushing foreward and the light in the tunnel will get brighter and brighter
