Today we’d like to introduce you to NY Teez.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m originally from the Bronx in New York I grew up in a pretty good household my mom worked a lot until circumstances changed how we had to live. We ended up moving out of New York to Charleston South Carolina, but we finally ended up in Charlotte North Carolina where I ended up finishing high school. I used to write a lot of poetry when I was younger it wasn’t until I met my friends Andrew, Chris, and JaVon from high school that I really got into writing raps. It was off and on for me writing songs back then because I didn’t have my own recording equipment for a a few years after graduating. I’d record at my boy Chris’s house when I’d go back to Charlotte but I felt like I wasn’t good enough so I used to psych myself out about it and end up stopping for months at a time through college.
It wasn’t until I moved to Georgia for school that I met my homeboys Adriane, and Johnathan and I showed them songs I had written that I worked up the confidence to invest in myself and get my own recording equipment and start learning the process of recording and mixing music. Ever since last summer I’ve been going hard learning everything I can and putting myself more out there.
Please tell us about your art.
I love to create music I write, record, mix, and master my own songs. A lot of the times when I’m writing I want to evoke a certain emotion out of people depending on how I felt when I heard whatever beat I’m writing to at the time. When people listen to my music, I want them to be able to vibe out to it and be entertained by the content I create. The message behind my music is just be yourself and work, and good things will come to you if you stay committed and patient.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Advice for other artists would be to not give up on your dreams when it gets tough. Also, you make dope content you gotta believe it before anyone else will. Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself and your goals it can happen for you if you just keep pushing through all the noise.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can listen to my music on all major streaming platforms Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal its everywhere just search NY Teez on any of the platforms, and it should pop up. All the support would be much appreciated.
