Meet Obadyah “OBIOG” Brown of Original Genius Music in Eastpoint

Today we’d like to introduce you to Obadyah “OBIOG” Brown.

Obadyah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am 23 from born in Nashville, Tn. I have been doing music at a professional level since 15 at the same time I attended a respectable fine arts and music school in Nashville called Nashville school of the arts. I am one fourth of a hip hop group called life in the front seat which is apart of a bigger family called 3rdcyde. The collection of experiences from these times mark the evolution of who I am today. I have a deep love and passion for history spirituality and great music that inspires the world. My influences in music come from the greatest of all time; just to name a few OutKast, Bobby Caldwell, Larry June, Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Curtis Mayfeild, Bootsy Collins, and my favorite of all time Snoop Dogg. As you can imagine these influences has brewed a sophisticated funk within my sound and I have the streets of Atlanta to thank for that aswell. So how did I end up in atl ? Approximately three years I attended a famous event called A3C.

To say the least this event was shift in my life FYI I just quit my job in Nashville prior to going to the event. Once again moving off of inspiration and not desperation proved to show Atlanta could House a sense growth I felt was needed in my life. So six months later I moved to east point, legendary for producing some of my favorite artists like Andre 3000. When I first got here, I was excited and eager to do it all in regards to music. I soon realized the level of work-ethic I needed to put forth in order to manifest my dreams. Through it all I have realized my greatness and happy to say I have released two projects “Crannberry Og” and “ Abdías the Original Genius” and I have an Ep dropping November 23, 2019 called “ Grass Pyramids “. These aremy time capsules that capture the joy, pain, and life lessons that I gained while being here and the ATL drip that is contagious I must say. To conclude my story there is more to it that I may have not mentioned in this excerpt.however it still a lot I have to offer and I can’t wait to sit down with voyage ATL to go in depth about my story.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. My struggles are normal in the sense of nights where I had scrape a few bucks just to eat or to make it to work. I definitely have to mention the helpful Parents family, and friends that look out for me when I’m in need. It is a beautiful thing when your neighbor feeds you because you spent your last on a light bill. These moments are definitely remembered in my music and it added to my character.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I am classically trained vocalist so my ear for music can be unorthodox but dope. Just the late great Nipsey Hussle I am in the business of retail and music production whether that’s live or studio. I am known for working with a hometown Bookstore in Nashville call Alkebulan Images which is cornerstone in the southeast region for African/indigenous heritage. I am family but in regards to business structure I am sales contractor. My music hat is flexible between me building large productions for famous artists and events to making music in the studio or singing for performance fee. I also have business plans that currently being developed and also being pitched with silent partners. Therefore I have some blessings that I am taking advantage of.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the people and how everyone appreciates originality which is apart of my motto “Original Genius”. The constant example of Black excellence is extremely motivating and important to why I’m still living in Atlanta, it is instant reminder to never stop creating and being the best I can be. Last but definitely not least the beautiful women!

Things I don’t like is the traffic of course and sometimes customer service seems nonexistent, which could be good because now I don’t take it for granted when customer service is actually good.

  • Cranberry Og album $9.49
