Octavia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hi I’m Octavia B the CEO of BPEACHY HAIR CARE.
I started when I was 14 years old, not necessarily saying that it was a hobby, but it was a way for me to make extra money. I needed to pay for the extracurricular activities that I was involved in while in school. I decided to go to college for nursing.While in nursing, I said I needed a legit way to make more than minimum wage, while I make it through nursing school. So I changed to cosmetology.Not knowing I would end up going to school for four years of cosmetology, and barbering at a state college. I then went back to become a cosmetology instructor, and lastly becoming a hair loss specialist.My clients say I’m the hair Dr ,lol I’m starting to believe them.My interest in helping people, I combined my knowledge in health care with hair loss training; and created a very affective growth and hydrating serum called truth juice. I have one distributor she’s Alabama based that I’ve employed (Linda) so far to keep it personal, not sure about the stores yet.The support has been amazing, and the product is sailing well. I remember doing hair on my mom‘s front porch and paying her ,for using the kitchen, water, etc I paid booth rent early lol. I did what I had to do to get to where I am..Let’s just say I take what I do very seriously. It’s not a side gig, it’s my career.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I will say that it was smooth physically it has its ups and downs.The mental aspect of it, and staying motivated is what I can say was the challenging part.Not having the support other young people had God quickly became my friend.Finding my why was what kept me going. Seeing my mother live from paycheck to paycheck, I knew that I did not want the same thing. I kept fighting.My daughter is my why now and motivation.Mikayla is my coach she keeps mommy going when I get discouraged. She reminds me to keep pushing ,She says you know God got you momma lol.
Please tell us about BPeachy Hair Care.
Well, my company specializes in hair care, because to me if the foundation is not healthy, then the rest is obsolete. Specializing in healthy hair, color relaxers, natural hair, cuts ,State Board Prep, and hair loss. We also take pride in educating our client on the importance of keeping the hair healthy and avoiding things that can promote hair loss.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
To be honest, I really can’t say because I was too busy trying to find ways to make money and create security. So as a child, I really didn’t get to do much the kids did.I was the momma lol so I had to handle business (lol I’m so tickled).
