Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Dallas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started off doing lite baking for a bakery in Hapeville, Ga. Honestly, I was hired for customer service only, but my passion was so strong I kept sneaking my way to the back to help with minor treats such as cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc. By doing that, my passion grew even more and that was not enough to “feed my hunger.” I wanted to go further, but I was not allowed to because there was no time to get trained on improving my skills. One of the employees (also a friend) told me, “Jas, it’s just cake. Just try and it’s not over unless you drop it.” I took those words and started my own journey. I begin to look at YouTube videos and practicing a lot! I started with just family and friends and after that, my customer base begins to grow and before you know it, The Nutty Bakefessor LLC was born! It’s so crazy how life works because I actually starting doing event planning and was very happy about it, but orders were coming in so fast and I had to let event planning go (for that moment). So, I guess it’s true what they say… you don’t choose your profession, it chooses you.
As far as reading tarot cards… I had dreams that were coming true after my grandma passed years ago. I was so scared and I wanted to seek help, but I didn’t want to see “crazy.” So, I had my first reading done and I was blown away. I was helped in so many ways. I was also told that EVERYONE is born with the psyche and everyone can read cards if they believed they could. I was also told, we are just limited in trusting our intuition as we grow older because of boundaries that are placed upon our thinking as we age. So, we tend not to trust ourselves as much as we should. I wanted to test that theory and I purchased some tarot cards and my readings were dead on. So, I continued and I love it so much because it has been a way to help people with day to day issues. Knowing that I can provide clarity to my customers feeds my soul every day.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Baking has had its challenges for sure. There were times where I was not able to get any sleep for a couple of days because I maintained my 9-5 and I had to get production done for my home-based bakery. I have had to deal with things from sleepless nights, joints aching and swelling to trying to find some kind of balance in my life.
Doing tarot card readings have been pretty smooth. It was just the fear of what people would think. That fear kept me from pursuing it sooner… but the thing you learn about life no matter what you chose to do or who you chose to be, is that when people genuinely love you, they will also understand you, even if they do not agree. So, the only challenge for me was preparing myself to see who really loved me. So, because of that, it has been a pretty smooth road.
The Nutty Bakfessor LLC and The Spiritualist Empress Jas – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Nutty Bakefessor LLC is a home-based bakery. We offer a plethora of sweet treats ranging from cookies and brownies to candy apples and cakes. All items can be customized. Seeing that I offer a wide range of treats, it is very difficult to pinpoint what I specialize in, but I will say I make these praline brownies that are always in high demand.
I am most proud of just being able to have a business I call my own. Grant, I am nowhere near where I will like to be, but being able to start something and call it yours… being able to grow something that you can leave to your child(ren) and being able to nurture something and help it grow is so rewarding.
What sets me apart from one of my customer service. I get applauded on how well I treat my customers. Also, I operate 24/7. I literally have customers that have picked their orders up at 3 am. So, because of that alone, I have maintained a growing loyal customer base.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is being able to do what you love full time. When you have that moment of your soul being full and you are no longer hungry. Just finding that balance in life itself. Being able to feel accomplished, even when things get rough. And when they do get rough, you have had enough experience to realize that this is just a moment and you will conquer it because you believe in yourself and you have proved to yourself that you will succeed. To me, that’s what success looks like.
