Meet Olamiji Amokomowo of VizeVerza Management in CampCreek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olamiji Amokomowo.

Olamiji, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started at an all-girls boarding school I attended called Purnell School. I would sit in my dorm room and make beats on my laptop using an old program named Fruity Loops. For a moment I thought I was Missy Elliott. The love I had for music was so intense, that I would listen, write, and create all day and forget to go to class, do homework, eat, sometimes I wouldn’t even sleep. I just wanted to know more about music and how to create it. The obsession with music took over and caught the attention of my guidance counselor at the time. She thought I was locking myself in my room because of depression but not knowing it was because of music. When she found out, she introduced me to one of the best HBCU’s, Howard University, and it was there that I discovered Audio Production. I was able to showcase my creativity and pursue my passion in the entertainment industry.

Then in 2013, I started my own company VizeVerza Management.

Under VizeVerza Management, several sister companies were born.

2014 – I started my own snapback line named Ivy League which sold out in four days. Ivy Leagues Motto- “Who said that you had to attend an Ivy League school to be considered Important or regarded Highly. IVY League is not your ordinary brand, logo or latest fashion trend but a noteworthy statement. IVY League Apparel represents those who consider themselves to be more than ordinary. It is a line for woman, men, and children who recognize that they are Prestigious, Notable, and Influential for just being who they are”.

2015 – the Hip-hop Winter Jam was born. Winter Jam is an annual event that travels to different cities every year, So far it has been in New Jersey twice, Washington DC and it is hitting Atlanta very soon, hopefully in 2020. Winter Jam was my first event I put together that had over 700 people in attendance, including Angela Yee and DJ Envy from the number 1 hiphop and r&b radio station “Breakfast Club”. Winter Jam is a several hour music showcase that is intended to promote the history, culture, and art of HipHop. The Jam consists of unsigned artist from all over who are all about showcasing their talents to prospective A&R’s, music execs, music publications, and most importantly, the artist’s FANS. This event is a multicultural event catering to people of all colors, races, ethnic and social background. Hiphop Unleashed Winter Jam is a cultural event and a vital meeting ground for hiphop fans, MCs, DJs, producers, media, and fashion designers.

Later in 2015, I became the Executive Producer of a show called “The Booth Shall Set You Free”. My love for music was still there but I wanted to showcase the love in another way. The Booth”….shall set you free is a 30min entertainment YouTube show that is packed with awesome entertainment with special appearances from Signed and Unsigned Recording Artists, Athletes, and other entertainers in the entertainment industry. With me as the host, The Booth is filmed in a recording studio’s booth. The program contains a countdown of music videos, features interviews, and freestyles from popular recording artists, and has a guest DJ every episode who serves as a co-host. The Booth is a popular promotion tool used by musicians, actors, and other celebrities to promote their newest works to the show’s teen to young adult demographic.

From 2015 to 2018, I continued to manage artist, produce hiphop events and shows but then a lot of my female friends said I only cater to uplifting and assisting men. So that’s when O.L.A was born. 2018 Outstanding Lady with Attitude was introduced to my female friends and followers. OLA Is an organization for women that hosts regular events focused on professional development, business success, motivation, inspiration, and networking. O.L.A mission is to unite women to share resources, provide inspiration, receive valuable advice from women who have “been there”, and celebrated triumphs. I held my first OLA event in June 2018. Outstanding Ladies w/ Attitude held their 1st Annual “Women In Entertainment” Brunch Mixer and Award Ceremony. The event took place on the 24th of June 2018 at the rooftop of Hotel Indigo downtown Newark, New Jersey. Over 60 women were in attendance, coming from Atlanta, North Carolina, Delaware, Washington DC, NY, and NJ. The brunch flow included entertainment, speakers, vendors, and capped off with the awards to our three honorees. Women In Entertainment honored women who have made remarkable strides in the fields of entertainment, beauty, fashion, and digital media. By paving new pathways these women have provided a space for women to unite, network, motivate, inspire, socialize and share resources to like-minded women who strive for greatness. We Ate….. We Networked…..We Inspired one another!

This all took place in New Jersey, where I loved every moment of it; however, I felt something was missing. I was doing the leg work but my passion was growing and I wanted more. So in the summer of 2018, I picked up and relocated to Atlanta in hopes for more exposure, greatness, and opportunity.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“Sometimes it’s your journey that teaches you a lot about your destination” Drake The road has been rough but blessings always came out of it. Finances have always been the ultimate hardest task to achieve. Managing, producing and curating all take money. Without the right connections or sponsors, being able to do what I wanted to do it without restrictions, I knew I had to finance all my projects myself. I would literally work 3-4 jobs at a time. Many asked how was that possible, I would say work smarter and not harder. Doing so I was able to save and finance every single of my projects on my own with the help of family and friends.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about VizeVerza Management – what should we know?

One quality I feel that is most important to my success is passion. Without having the passion that I have for music and everything that may come from it, I would never have gotten as far as I am. Passion is my mule, Passion is my emotion, my passion is my existence.
